How it Works?

-Two or three birds per cage

- arranged in single, double, or even triple rows

- Limits cannibalism among the hens

- It helps in the production of cleaner eggs

- Reduces the stress levels of the birds

Production

- Caged system produces hens with bigger or higher mass, weight, and egg-laying rates

- This has been proven many times

System Effects on Bird Health, Nutrition, and Bird Safety

- Easy control of parasites

- Keeps the eggs cleaner because they don't end up in manure

- Each hen is given the same amount of feeding

Cost of System to Start up and to Operate

- Start up: Varies depending on the size of the farm


- Operate: Fairly expensive because you have maintain manure, supply feeding everyday, maintain a warm enough temperature, and all the machinery to do the everyday processes

Price of Poultry Meat or Eggs in that System and the Quality of Meat or Eggs Produced

-Quality of eggs produced is higher then a free range

- They are heavier and more in number
