Flowery Flyer
Week of May 9, 2016
WE HAVE 18 DAYS LEFT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OUR STUDENTS!
Updates
The Flowery oak tree is saved!
Louann Carlomagno shared the good news on Friday that the District will make every effort to save the oak tree in the parking lot. We anticipate losing 4 parking spots based on the arborist's review that took place last week. The arborist will be on site when excavation begins in order to adequately assess the roots. In addition, there will be some significant pruning to the tree. Thank you to Kristina Reguero Garrison and all staff, parents, and community members who mobilized in leading the advocacy and organization of a community wide response to the proposed removal of the tree. Upon hearing staff's concern, the District moved quickly to assess and find a win-win solution. I am very pleased with the outcome and appreciate the staff advocacy and professionalism in handling the situation. It was a great learning experience for all as we move into more of these facilities improvements District-wide. Bravo and go Flowery!
Bell Schedule
I will be visiting grade level meetings on Wednesday, 5/11 to receive more input on the revised bell schedule for 2016-2017. I need feedback by grade level spans K/1, 2/3, and 4/5. In addition, I'm working on an 8:15 start time to build in more minutes at the start of the day instead of the end. The goal is to have a set schedule before we leave on summer break. Schedule for Wednesday: 4th/5th- 1:45, 2nd/3rd-2:15 and 2:45-K/1
Parent Survey:
Parents will complete one survey per family NOT per child. Parents may go online to complete the survey or complete the hard copy and return it to you or to the office. I am shooting for a 75% response rate!

Bright Bytes Survey This anonymous technology survey is for students in grades 3-5 as well as teachers. It surveys the use of technology and is being used by the tech committee to plan next steps with training, purchase of devices etc. Please be sure you and your students complete this survey before May 15th.
