Angels Among Us
Weekly Updates 10/30/19
Hello Families,
We hope you take some time to relax with the children during this 3 day weekend! This Friday, the teachers will be meeting at school to practice some good self-care techniques and take some time to unit plan with the proficiency scales that were created through the archdiocese of Chicago and are aligned to Common Core State Standards. This professional development day is directly aligned to the school improvement goals of using data to drive instruction. Moreover, we will have a chance to look at the ACT Aspire results of 3rd-8th grade from their interim testing that occurred last week. This interim testing is used as a baseline of results/data that we can use to adapt teachers' instruction and help students prepare for the standardized test in the Spring.
Unfortunately, mother nature has turned against us and now we are welcoming snow. We are asking parents to make sure they do not stand in the doorway of the main office building. Now that the weather is getting colder and snowing, it does take longer for the students to be dismissed, but the gathering at the doorway is a fire hazard and makes dismissal longer too. We appreciate the partnership with parents and thank parents who have made sure that their students come with a change of shoes (if they bring boots) and come with jackets that keep the students warm. I also want to thank parents who have kept their children home if they have a fever, this helps keep the classrooms safe and healthy!

*Parent-teacher conferences are held all-day. Students are not in session but are highly encouraged to be in attendance during the scheduled PT time. A digital sign-up will be sent out next week for parents to choose a 10-minute time slot that works for their schedule. If for some reason a parent cannot make Nov. 26 for PT conferences, we ask you to schedule a time for the week before with the child's homeroom teacher. If you are requesting more than 10 minutes to review your child's performance, we ask that you contact the teacher for a separate meeting day.
We are excited to begin another month of learning and share all the work the students have done during PT conferences. We will also be planning some more time for us to celebrate together during morning assemblies with a theme of gratitude and a new virtue to focus on as a school. Morning assemblies have been running very smooth and we are excited to add more to them and celebrate as a whole school community.
I also added a couple videos instead of pictures to get us ready for a month of gratitude and love. I hope you enjoy them.
Happy Halloween!

Actualizaciones Semanales

Gracias,
Sr. Molina
