CHS Weekly Update
Week 29: 3-31-2020
Week 3 of Captivity :)
1) I miss you guys, our students, and being in the buildings (I might even take the complaints).
2) I'm so proud of all of the attempts that you've made to connect with our students and how many of you've really been rocks for our students in this time of uncertainty.
3) Everyone has been demonstrating so much flexibility with our students while providing opportunities for engagement. I know some students have expressed overwhelm at the shift and you have been great at explaining exactly what your assignments are for and what the intention of the assignments are.
4) I have the most fun staff. :)
5) Did I say that I miss you guys?
Other Things on My Mind...
- I'm looking to continue to get an idea of what you are sharing with students. Please share with me in a quick email what you've sent out to students week 2 and this week as well. It doesn't have to be a long explanation (unless you think it needs to be), but just trying to get a sense of what our student engagement pieces look like. Please also include anything that you have done to socially connect with students.
- With the Governor's announcement last Friday regarding the unlikelihood of school reopening this year and her press conference that she alluded to later this week, there is lots of continued speculation about the rest of the school year, prom, graduation, and many other topics. I would like to schedule a time to talk through some of these next steps with you all on Thursday at 1:00 pm. I'll send the link out in a separate email.
- I also will be hosting a time for students, parents, and staff to come together on Thursday at 2:00 pm. Please feel free to join - I know our students would love to see you.
- Thanks to all for joining our staff check-in last week. We had fun navigating zoom and having a pop together! More to come in the future. :)
- I'm definitely thinking about our student's mental health and social connections during this time. Jessica Gouin (our social worker) has updated the SEL document found below.
- Please continue to encourage students to complete their schedules. Also - if you notice a student is struggling, let their counselor know.
- Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything or just want to say hi! :) Check out this resource to help support any anxiety you might be feeling.
