New Albany Early Learning Center
January 30, 2024
Dear ELC Families,
The months of January and February brings the potential for school delays or cancellations and it also is a timing of planning for the 2024-2025 school year. Please see the information provided below about school delays and cancellations as well as information in the Family Update about preschool and/or kindergarten registration.
CALAMITY & DELAYED START
It's that time of year when the weather is more like winter and the chances of school being delayed or canceled is a possibility. A school message will go out, from the ELC, informing families of the school day during inclement weather. This message will ONLY be sent if the school is delayed or canceled. If school is delayed by 1 or 2 hours, busing and drop off times will be adjusted to 1 or 2 hours later. If school is delayed, the morning kindergarten and preschool programs will NOT be in attendance.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION FOR 2024-2025 BEGINS FEBRUARY 6, 2024
Kindergarten registration for the public opens on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. If your child currently attends the ELC preschool program and will be entering kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year, DO NOT complete the online enrollment process. If you would like your child to attend the tuition based all day kindergarten program, you can guarantee a spot by submitting your first payment along with the tuition agreement between 2/6/2024-3/1/2024.
FINAL TUITION PAYMENT FOR PRESCHOOL AND ALL DAY KINDERGARTEN
The final tuition payment for preschool and all day kindergarten is due on 2/1/2024. Please email ELC Secretary, Heidi Harper, with any questions at harper.15@napls.us.
EAGLE SUMMER DAY CAMP INFORMATION
The K-6 Eagle Summer Day Camp program is being discontinued. The New Albany area provides a number of child care options for those of you who need supervision for your children this summer. While we cannot recommend or endorse any specific center, we have compiled a list of local options to assist you in starting your selection process which you can access by clicking here. Questions can be directed to Director of Elementary Education Scott Emery at emery.3@napls.us.
LOST & FOUND
The ELC lost and found is bursting with coats, hoodies, and other items! Please take a minute to add your student's name to items with a permanent marker. We sort items weekly, and if it has a name we will return it to the student! Please remind students to collect items as they come in from recess, and to look in the lost and found if something is missing. Parents are welcome to look for lost items when they visit NAELC.
ABSENCE REPORTING
If your child will be absent from school, please call the attendance line at 614-413-8100. All medical notes should be turned in to the ELC office. For more information on school attendance, please click here.
TRAFFIC PATTERN
Thank you for adjusting to the new traffic pattern during the morning arrival and afternoon dismissal times. Despite the increased volume in the morning due to the weather, the flow of traffic is going well. We are asking that the new traffic pattern continue for the remainder of the school year. Please click the links below to review the traffic pattern.

ELC PTO UPDATE
Hello Families
January is going by so quickly and the PTO has been busy planning great events for the Winter and Spring months.
Our fundraising efforts this year has allowed us to purchase several BIG GAMES to support the Pom-Pom Jar Prize Challenge. These games will stay with the school and will be available for indoor recess and other events at the ELC for years to come. We also partnered with BIBIBOP Asian Grill to welcome the teachers back from the winter break with a delicious lunch led by our fantastic hospitality team.
Programming Update:
The New Albany Early Learning Center is hosting a “Super Heroes and Fairy Tales Dance” on March 15th.
From 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm, there will be a sensory-friendly hour specifically designed for children with sensory needs. This will be a calm and comfortable environment for them to enjoy before the main event.
The main event will run from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, featuring appearances from popular comic book and movie characters. There will be dancing, light snacks, and other fun activities.
Tickets are $25 and include attendance for one ELC Student and one adult. Each additional ELC Student is $10. Please note that siblings are not allowed due to space limitations. Get your tickets here: https://checkout.square.site/buy/U2YQKSUA6YPPSN3MKKUYJLZE.
We welcome volunteers during the event for those additional guardians/parents/grandparents wanting to attend or middle school/high school students who need volunteer hours.
