This program will provide opportunities to network with women in engineering and computer science fields at UCSD, as well as provide various workshops and events to foster interest in a wide variety of STEM fields.
This is the fourth year of this program, and we would really appreciate help recruiting passionate and driven students. Attached is the flyer for our program, and we would love for you to send it to anyone who may be interested.

Rehearse-a-thon & Spaghetti Dinner
Alumni, Supporters, Family & Friends -
Join us this Saturday for our Rehearse-a-thon on Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser!
On Saturday, October 7, 2023, the students and staff have challenged one another to participate in a 10-hour rehearsal. We have taken this pledge to raise money and community awareness of our program while perfecting our competitive show.
Fundraiser: Students are collecting donations NOW! They each have a goal to find at least 14 people to sponsor them at $50.00 for the day. That’s only $5 per hour! Sponsors may donate any amount they wish (even $10 will help). Any and all donations you make are tax-deductible. HIMA hopes to receive donations and credit them toward our season before October 13, 2023.
Rehearsal: Rehearse-a-Thon is an all day Band & Guard practice
Performance: There will be a (free) performance on the football field at 6:00pm and all families are welcome to attend regardless of staying for the spaghetti dinner.
Dinner: Following the performance, families are encouraged to join us for spaghetti dinner at 6:30pm on campus at the lunch tables (same location as camp BBQ). Enjoy pasta, salad, bread, dessert and a drink. Tickets are $10 per adult, $5 per child/performing student. Please place your ticket order and money in the gray box in the music room, via Ticketleap, OR pay via PayPal (link below) by Friday, October 6th, so we have a final headcount for food.
If you use PayPal, please note how many meals you're purchasing in the notes section - or if you're making a donation to the Rehearse-a-thon fundraiser for HIMA or a specific student.
Flyers below with links to each document so you can download and share with family, friends and community members.
ALSO, we are looking for a few donation items for the spaghetti dinner. Please sign up to bring an item if you are able. Thanks so much for your support!

Safety at Local Businesses & Student Pickup / Dropoff Locations
Dear Scotties - One of our top priorities at Helix is to create a safe and positive school environment throughout the school day.
Students are not allowed to leave campus during their school day. Before and after school, any student visiting the Taco Shop, Starbucks, The Water Store, etc, are not under our supervision. Due to their close proximity to Helix, these businesses get very crowded before and after school. In order for the businesses to keep their lobbies open, please be safe and respectful (keep noise levels down, throw away their trash, be respectful of other patrons, etc) when entering these locations.
When getting dropped off or picked up at school, we suggest that you pick one of the two supervised locations: Student parking lot at 4200 Lowell Street Off of Highlander Way, the one way street that runs parallel to University. You may enter Highlander Way by taking a right immediately after turning onto Lowell St. from University (near the entrance to the tennis courts). Due to construction, parking remains at capacity and we encourage you to be patient with traffic congestion. We appreciate your assistance in ensuring the safety and security of all students and that pickup and dropoff times are controlled and organized. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you, Jonathan Simon Manager, School Safety and Security Helix Charter High School
Halloween at Helix

Helix ASB
Student Highlight of the Month!
Our two Student Highlights for the month of September are Lainey Krage and Ruby Charbonnet!
Mr. Neil and Mr. Smith chose Lainey because... "Lainey, within the first few weeks, started a club on campus to help students earn community service hours during the school day. Her club is called Just Serve and meets on Wednesdays at lunch in Room 60. I believe her proactiveness in not only volunteering, but also helping others earn their hours shows great commitment to our school and personal leadership."
Mr. Osborn chose Ruby because... "Ruby was the first of our incoming Speech & Debate competitors to compete this year. With no experience and very limited time, Ruby got her debate cases together and competed in Lincoln Douglas Debate at our first tournament of the year, representing Helix very well!"
Every month your GLT will be recognizing students who have gone above and beyond and have shown what it means to be a true Scottie.
