Roosevelt Weekly Parent Info
Hey Roosevelt families...here are a few reminders for the week:
~ Conferences begin today! If you haven't yet signed up for your child's conference, please do ASAP using this link. This is a valuable and important time to connect and communicate regarding your child's progress.
~ Begin with the End in Mind: In Rocky Time last week, students named future jobs they would like to have. We put those ideas in a Word Cloud (see right). Take a peek--how cool is that??!!!
~ 4th Grade Parents: You have a chance to purchase cards that has your child's artwork on the front. This information has already come home, and the My Card envelopes need to be returned no later than Monday, November 18. Mrs. Anderson will be mailing in all orders after school on the 18th, so they are sure to have your order back to you before the holidays. From experience, I can tell you they make great gifts!
~ Roosevelt Title I Family Engagement Plan: At Tuesday's PTO meeting, the Family Engagement Plan was shared with parents. If you are interested in learning more, please check out the full plan using this link.
~ The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program is a national program that promotes walking and biking to school. The SRTS focuses on teaching bicycle and pedestrian safety along with the promotion of healthy lifestyles. The initiative encourages children to walk and bike to school and also seeks to improve the air quality around schools, reducing traffic congestion near schools, increase physical activity of children, and increase community involvement.
Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) original SRTS plan for Mankato was developed and adopted in 2013 and has served well to improve walking and biking to school. MAPS is currently going through a review of the 2013 SRTS plan to look at how neighborhoods have changed, see what new barriers may keep children from walking or biking to school and to add Prairie Winds Middle School to our plan.
