Weaver Lake Family Newsletter
December 2022
Message from the Principal
Greetings Weaver Lake Wolfpack,
Thanks to all who came out to celebrate and enjoy our first Value Added Projects (VAP). If you were unable to attend the STEM in Action Fair, you can view your child's work here. Just click on the grade level and student showcase within the grade level. For some grade levels, you may need to click on the teacher's name after that. We're so proud of the work that your child is doing at Weaver Lake STEM!
Lunchroom update: We are working on a plan and supervision for parents to be able to come in and eat lunch with their child. This would most likely start in January. Thank you for being patient with us as we figure out the logistics of this all.
Dismissal update: Starting December 5, you will notice more adult supervision at Parent Pick Up. We are working with the district to add signage and other safety procedures throughout the year. We are also designating an area for parent pick up scholars to be as they wait. We are asking that all adults and children between the time of 3:50 and 4:10 use the walkway with patrols to cross safely in the front parking lot.
The Weaver Lake Staff and I would like to wish your family Happy Holidays. We are also aware that winter and the holidays can be hard. If you need assistance in anyway, please reach out to us and we will support your child and you the best we can! Libby Lough (Lorren), Social Worker and Maria Andersen, Counselor are great resources. Wishing you much health and happiness this December!
With Warm Regards,
Lena Christiansen, Principal

Stem in Action Fair - Thank you!
THANK YOU to the over 200 families that came for our STEM in Action Fair! It's always wonderful for relatives and friends to see the hard work that students have put into their learning this first trimester. Another big thank you to the volunteers that helped mat and hang the hundreds of pieces of work in the weeks leading up to the fair. Remember that you can still view all our student work at our school website by clicking on this link and going to "trimester 1" and the grade level you'd like to see. Thank you for supporting our students in their learning adventures.

2023-24 NWSISD Magnet School Application
If a sibling is applying for admission to Weaver Lake for next school year, the application needs to be submitted by December 31, 2022.
All students NOT currently enrolled at Weaver Lake Elementary in grades Kindergarten-5th Grade must apply through NWSISD and be accepted to attend our school. Applicants who currently have a sibling attending Weaver Lake Elementary in grades K-4 will have sibling preference through the NWSISD lottery process. To be considered for sibling preference when filling out the application, you must check the box, "Check here if the applicant has a sibling currently attending their first choice school," and complete the rest of the page. All students who apply during the priority application period will be considered for assignment before any students who apply after the priority period.

Update from Volunteer Coordinator
Hello Weaver Lake Elementary Volunteers!
Can you believe that it’s already December? Thanks to the over 200 volunteers registered with Weaver Lake, we have already reported 1095 hours of volunteer time since the beginning of the school year! That’s 699 hours more than this time last year! WOW! Thank you so much, volunteers. We can’t do this without you!
We are still looking for another volunteer to help weekly in the Media Center. If you have an hour a week to help check books in and out, reshelve and assist the library staff, please email me for more information.
There is almost always a project or two to work on here at the school. From cutting paper, to hanging up art projects, to making popcorn….there are so many ways you can help! If you don’t want to make a weekly commitment, but are open to working on things like these regularly, please email me and I will add you to my list of helpers!
As we approach the unofficial halfway point of the school year, I want to take a moment to remind everyone of things that will be happening in the second half of the year that we will need help with!
- Weaver Lake Read-a-Thon
- Spring Bookfair
- Engineering Night
- Field trips
- Carnival
- Much, much more!
Remember, you must be registered to volunteer if you want to hear about all of the great opportunities there are to help at Weaver. Fill out the application online at https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/Nzg0OmVuLVVT
