A Message From Mrs. O'Shaughnessy
I hope you had a wonderful week, and an even better weekend. This week we turned the calendar from February to March, and I can't believe how fast this year is going! The next four months will fly, as they are filled with many events, activities and important tasks.
There is a lot going on at PS 88Q, and I want to share a few of the exciting details.
- We have been approved for and funded for CAMERA INSTALLATION AT PS 88Q. This is something we have fought for. I will keep you updated on the timeline, (as approval was given this week), but specifically, cameras at all entrance/exit doors, hallways, stairwells, and cafeteria.
- Our playground construction has a tentative start date of April. We are still awaiting a finalized timeline, but our initial meeting communicated a December 2023 completion date. (pictures below)
I did want to share some news that was shared this week. Our beloved, fearless leader, Dr. Madelene Chan, has made the decision to retire. This of course was a shock to us all, but this was not a decision she took lightly. She has been a strong supporter of the entire District 24 community, and her impact will be felt for many years. The CEC is holding an emergency meeting Tuesday night regarding the IA Superintendent. please see information below.
This week your child will receive their report card. There are many ways you can access the report. I have added a video below which can help. You can access all of your child's information, in addition to countless resources, on teachhub. You must have your child's email and password. We can help you if you are unsure. Here is a link as well for support:https://www.schools.nyc.gov/learning/digital-learning/doe-student-accounts
With the early dismissal on Thursday, our afterschool programs (Cooking, Coding, Band, Theater) are cancelled, but GRYC will be in session. Please reach out to Kevin Goodish for details.
Lastly, I have included information regarding the NYC School Survey. YOUR VOICE MATTERS! We want to hear your feedback. Please complete the survey by March 31. Any questions, or perhaps some support, please reach out to Ms. Ivett, our Parent Coordinator @ iperezlopez@schools.nyc.gov
Have a wonderful week!

NYC SCHOOL SURVEY
We want to hear from you!
Each year, all families, teachers, and students in grades 6-12 take the NYC School Survey to share feedback about their schools. The NYC School Survey is one of the nation’s largest education surveys. Survey feedback can help improve your child’s learning environment. You can take this year’s survey from February 13 – March 31.
How does your feedback help our school?
Your feedback helps us understand what you think our school does well and how you think we can improve. Survey results allow us to reflect on how well we are achieving our school’s goals and mission.
How can I share my voice?
You received your NYC School Survey in an envelope. Complete the survey using the instructions at the top of the survey. Return your completed survey using the prepaid envelope included with your survey materials. You can mail it directly to:
Survey Processing Center
PO Box 680490
Charlotte NC 28216-9935
You can also take the survey online by visiting NYCSchoolSurvey.org. Use a lowercase “f” followed by your student’s identification (OSIS) number which can be found on their report card, student ID card, or NYCSA account. Families can also log in to their NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) to take the survey.
[Insert details about when they can take the survey at your school, including location and time.] For more information about the NYC School Survey, visit NYCSchoolSurvey.org. You can also contact [insert name and contact information] with any questions.
The last day to complete and mail the NYC School Survey is March 31, 2023.
Thank you for sharing your feedback!
