Noon Dismissal on Friday, March 26

Report Cards

Report cards were sent home in folders on Friday, March 19 for in-person students and mailed to SMVA students. Report cards look different this year because they come from Infinite Campus, our new student information system. Look carefully because the comments from trimester 1 are still listed with the comments from trimester 2 below for each subject area. Please reach out to teachers if you have any questions about the comments in the report cards.

5th Grade Orchestra next week

Orchestra lessons will not be held on Tuesday, March 23rd or Thursday, March 25th. We will resume lessons after Spring Break. Keep practicing!

Calendar - please check early release dates!

For in-person families only:

We have had 3 early release Wednesdays at school in the last month. On the first day, every student was picked up on time. On the second day, we had about 3 students that were not picked up. This week (March 17), we had 10 students that were not picked up.

We really depend on you to know the school district's calendar. Here is the link - please print it and/or mark it on your home calendar. We do not send home reminders about these days. We count on all of our families to know this. However, we do remind families in this newsletter and most teachers send reminders as well.

We have dismissal at noon on Friday, March 26.

Spring break (no school) is March 27-April 5 for all students.

School resumes for all students on Tuesday, April 6.

Noon dismissal in April is on April 14, 21, and 28.

Free & Reduced Lunch Information

Dear SDSM Parents and Guardians,

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is organizing and preparing to provide extra food benefits for eligible students participating in Virtual Learning throughout the 2020-2021 School Year. They are gathering eligibility data from Wisconsin Public Assistance Programs and Wisconsin School Districts to provide benefits to families who may be eligible.

As you know, eligibility for Free & Reduced Priced Meals must be reviewed and renewed each new school year. This school year, many who may be eligible for Free & Reduced Priced Meals did not renew eligibility or apply because school meals have been provided at no cost for all SDSM students through Pandemic Relief Funds.

If you think your family may be eligible for Free & Reduced Priced Meals and Pandemic EBT Benefits, you must update your eligibility and should apply as soon as possible! Please apply using our online application, MySchoolApps.com . Applications are processed within one day in most cases. Other application information and 2020-2021 Income Guidelines are available on our website.

If you have any questions regarding your eligibility status for this school year, please contact Donna Mildebrandt at dmildebrandt@sdsm.k12.wi.us or (414) 766-5023.

4K Registration is Open

4K registration for the 2021-2022 school year is now open. Please read this information and follow the instructions for registration. Existing families received an email on February 26 with this same information - you will log into your Infinite Campus portal and add a new student to your family. If you have any question, contact the office at Lakeview. Please forward this information to anyone you know that might be interested in 4K for next school year. We can't wait to meet the class of 2035!

Scholastic Book Fair - online!

Lion Families,

The PTO is excited to offer another virtual Scholastic Book Fair. The book fair runs through Sunday, March 21st. Orders are expected to arrive by the end of March. This is the link to use during that time so that Lakeview benefits from your order.

Follow our PTO Facebook page for fun posts from our Lakeview students highlighting some of their favorite books and authors each day from March 8-21.

Forward Exam

All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be involved in Forward Testing in April. The Forward Exam is the statewide test in Wisconsin. Although it did not happen in 2020 due to the pandemic, it is happening this year again. SMVA 3rd-5th grade students should watch for instructions from SMVA staff. In-person 3rd-5th grade students at Lakeview will have Forward Testing during the week of April 12. Since we need to account for every 3rd-5th grade student with this test, it is important that in-person students are present during the week of April 12. Please avoid vacations, doctor/dentist appointments, etc. during that week. Students that miss test sessions will need to make up the test on another date, which means they miss other instruction. More info will come as we get closer to the testing dates.

ROAR Awards

Do you have a Lakeview staff member that you would like to nominate for a ROAR Award? Our PTO graciously recognizes staff members that you nominate and one of the nominations each month receives a gift certificate. Your kind words mean a lot to our staff, so please use this link to submit a ROAR Award.
