Believe and Achieve Times
December 14, 2020: Student and Parent Edition
There is still time to improve your grades!
I hope that all of you are staying healthy and strong during these uncertain times. Your physical and mental health is our greatest concern. As we move into the holiday season we wish all of you a safe and healthy season.
Students,
We are now approaching the end of our first semester and I want to encourage all of you that it is not too late to improve your grades. I encourage you to reach out to each of your teachers about any assignments that you can make up. I encourage you to work hard these coming weeks to finish strong in order to pass your class or earn the highest grade you can possibly earn. I encourage you to believe in yourself that you can improve each and everyday to be the best student that you can be.
Students and Parents,
I want to explain to all students and parents that if a student fails an academic core class for the first semester that they will be subject to a schedule change for the second semester that will place the student in a credit recovery class in order to help them stay on track to graduate high school. It is not too late to improve your grades! Keep working hard and keep communicating with your teachers!
Have a great week believing and achieving!!!!!

CHS Internship Program for 2021-22 School Year
Chesterton High School is interested in establishing partnerships with Duneland businesses who would be willing to host a CHS student in an internship position for the 2021-2022 school year and beyond. If you have a business or know of any businesses that would like to participate in the internship program, please contact Chris Roof at croof@duneland.k12.in.us or 219-983-3770.
The goal of the CHS Internship Program is to provide students with structured opportunities to understand the relevance between classroom learning and the work environment, while participating as productive employees/volunteers in a company or organization. These internship opportunities allow students to explore areas of personal and career interests, acquire the skills necessary to be successful employees, and to formulate goals and plans for their futures.

Need to Report a Positive COVID-19 Case on the Weekend?
Reporting symptoms, isolation, and COVID-19 cases
As we progress into our remote learning instructional model we are still allowing our students to participate in extra curricular activities as long as they participate in our remote learning model on a daily basis. In order to help with the potential spread of virus please remember to report students that are symptomatic, in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, and if your child has tested positive for COVID-19. This will help in controlling the spread between students and community members so we can work toward returning to school in January.
Symptoms Impacting Consideration for Exclusion from School
Students and employees should be aware of the following COVID-19-related symptoms:
Unexplained sore throat
New loss of taste or smell
Unexplained headache
Diarrhea
Close contact with anyone having COVID-19
Feeling feverish or temperature greater than 100℉
Chills or repeated shaking with chills
Unexplained, new or worsening cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
