Public Health Faculty
Notes from Your UC Merced Library Liaison
Goodbye!
Starting in August, your new Public Health liaison is Research Services Librarian, Elizabeth Salmon. I have accepted a new position as a faculty librarian at Merced College. My last day at UC Merced is Friday, August 2.
Prior to coming to UC Merced in June 2016, I was a faculty librarian at the College’s Los Baños Campus but will now be at the main campus in Merced. Similar to my role here, I will be focused on developing students’ information literacy skills, but, in my new position, I will be leading the development and expansion of research instruction.
I wish you all well as you continue your work in the public health discipline and at UC Merced. I enjoyed learning about your research and working with your students in the classroom and during research appointments. UC Merced is making an impact, and I look forward to reading more news stories about research findings, student projects, and campus initiatives.
If you’d like to stay in touch, you can find me on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Wordpress. My personal email is davis.lindsay.ann@gmail.com. Between now and August 1, you can reach me by emailing ldavis23@ucmerced.edu or calling 209.285.7742.

Elsevier Access
As a follow-up to the letter that was sent from University Librarian Haipeng Li, Kurt Schnier, Teenie Matlock, and Maria DePrano on Friday, June 28, it looks like we still have access to Elsevier journal content from 2019 after the July 4th holiday.
When Elsevier turns off direct access, UC will no longer have access to content from any Elsevier journals published in 2019 and the backfiles of certain journals (download the list). All other pre-2019 Elsevier journal articles will still be accessible via ScienceDirect.
When the official shut off date is confirmed, a notice will be published on the Office of Scholarly Communication website. The UC Merced Library liaisons will also be getting in touch with their areas. The library is prepared to help faculty, staff, and students access 2019 Elsevier content and has provided some guidance for how to access newer articles on its Elsevier Negotiations webpage.
