AMAZING JOB! Hornung Elementary came in 2nd Place for the Brighton Ford “Toys for Tots” Campaign! After the votes were counted, Brighton Ford presented us with a $1,000.00 check! I am so thankful and grateful every day for your kindness and giving hearts, especially in a year of so much uncertainty.

PTO Buzz
We are very happy to announce we had a surge of donors for the “Toys for Tots Drive” at Brighton Ford which resulted in Hornung taking 2nd place and $1000 for the school! A big thanks to those of you who took the time to make the difference. We also raised $1122.60 for Gleaners and several hundred pounds of food for Bountiful Harvest. Again, thank you parents for showing our children how to give generously this season.
To give thanks to our wonderful teachers & staff, who have greatly adapted their classrooms and lives during this pandemic, we have shown some appreciation this week: Monday was a holiday ornament & candy gifts. Tuesday was Panera bagels & coffee - A big thanks to The Lloyd Family for helping coordinate that donation. Thursday, Mr Yates provided lunch from FireHouse Subs and Friday was a box of goodies from Total Cluster Fudge.
Have a safe and enjoyable Holiday & Happy New Year!
Your Hornung PTO,
President: Deanne Ferrell
Vice President: Jami Kilduff
Treasurer: Karen Nicholson

Counselor Corner
Hello from your Elementary Counselor, Mrs. McKiddy! With October being Anti-Bullying Awareness Month, we spoke with students about how to use our voice. We talked about how to support one another, how to stand up respectfully, and most importantly, how to do it in a way that makes everyone feel comfortable. Our theme of “Do Something” is carrying into the months of November and December: generosity and acts of kindness. If we can create a culture of kindness in our classrooms, our little learners are more likely to take risks, celebrate their individuality, and grow as people. To deepen this learning, create opportunities at home for spreading kindness and being generous. We know that in order to create a habit, we must create opportunities for repetition.
Let's Connect: If you are noticing some behaviors that are interfering with your child’s success in the classroom, please feel free to complete my parent referral form and we can work together to determine if supports are needed here at school.
More Resources: We also have our BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home!
