Mr. Montoya, the athletic director, has been working very hard to set up the sports program this year so that our students have the best options available that both honors athletics, but also academics. Rosella Sena-Kindergarten
I’m so excited to be a part of this wonderful Christ centered school!!! My name is Rosella Sena. I was born and raised in Santa Fé and have lived in NM my entire life. My husband Michael and I are raising two children, Sofía(16) and Joaquín(12), who are alumni of Santo Niño and now attend St. Michael’s. My educational background consists of a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from UNM. I currently hold a NM Level 2 License with a bilingual endorsement. I have held my license for over 20 years and have only taught Kindergarten during that time. Most recently, I received a certificate of completion for the ENL program through the University of Notre Dame. Go Irish!!! My hobbies include reading, movies, fishing, hiking and raising horses. My true “joy” comes from inspiring children to have a love for learning! No one can truly understand the love, patience, time and hard work that goes into teaching Kindergarten until you actually do it! Teaching at Santo Niño is a calling from God. He knocked, I answered.
Kimberly Martinez-6th grade and School Lead Teacher
My name is Kimberly Martinez and I am currently teaching sixth grade. I have been teaching for the past 20 years and have taught at Santo Nino since our opening 13 years ago. Prior to teaching I was a Quality Assurance Manager/Auditor for Los Alamos National Laboratory and Technical Design, Inc.
I hold a B.S. in Psychology and Sign Language Interpreting from the University of New Mexico, B.A. in Elementary Education from the College of Santa Fe, and a M.A. in Education of At-Risk Youth from the College of Santa Fe. I am TESOL endorsed -- teaching English as a second language; my second being American Sign Language (ASL).
I am a convert to the Catholic religion – I converted when I was in college at the age of 19. I enjoy practicing my faith in the Catholic religion. One of the things I enjoy best about teaching at a Catholic school is the ability to pray with my students. I enjoy teaching my students about Adoration. The students enjoy building their relationship with Jesus and this is a perfect way to do it -- Adoration.
I have two children, Ricardo (23) and Samantha (18) both of whom attended and promoted from Santo Nino. My son recently graduated from Trinity International University with a B.A. in Sports Management and as a member of the football team. He is currently working as a Physical Therapy Technician and he plans on pursuing a graduate degree in physical therapy. My daughter is currently beginning her second year at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix pursing a B.A. in Communications.
My favorite subject to teach besides religion is literature because I am an avid reader and love it! I teach most of my literature curriculum through Literature Circles -- it is a fun, interactive way to read and explore books.
Weekend Prayer
Heavenly Father, today we begin the weekend, we humbly come before you and ask:
May we savor the beauty of your creation all around us. May the sunshine, green trees and the breeze of the evening fill my heart with wonder at all you have made.
May we enjoy the fellowship of the friends around us. May we enjoy the fruit of deep human connections and receive emotional blessing from those around us.
May we rest our bodies, mind and spirit from a long week school. May we honor your command to Sabbath, honor the limits of our body, and simply rest.
May we laugh with those around us, finding joy in the big and small things of life. May laughter fill our soul.
May we cherish the wonderful family given to us. May we never take for granted the precious souls you’ve allowed in my life.
May we open our eyes to the needs and hurts around us. Help us take my focus off of ourselves long enough to see a world in need.
May we be bold to share the hope that we have in You. May we not be ashamed of our love for you, a love that we want to share with the world.
May we worship fully and freely with fellow believers at church on Sunday. May our worship be pleasing in your sight.
May our heart be open to what you would speak to us through your Word. May your Holy Spirit speak directly to our souls.
May we glorify your Name through our lives and deeds. May our actions bring honor to your Mighty Name.
Amen
