Rattler News
Week of May 2nd, 2021
Message from Mrs. Chavira, Campus Principal
Rattler Community,
This week we celebrate all of our educators on campus during Teacher Appreciation Week. Our teachers have faced many challenges in 20-21 but they have learned together, taught with new methods and ignited the love of learning to our students. The world of education has changed as we knew it and our teachers have evolved with our profession with passion, dedication and grace. I am proud of our campus educators. Please make sure you take a moment to thank your child's teacher and every educator on campus.
As always, we are here and ready to serve our community. Please reach out to our campus if you have any questions or need any information. Thank you for your continued trust in Dr. Sue A. Shook Elementary and Socorro ISD. Stay safe.
Respectfully,
Cristina Sanchez-Chavira

A Message from our Counselors
Taking care of my device
It is important that we teach our Rattlers how to properly take care of their devices and chargers. We are asking for your help this week as we will be reviewing device care all week during morning announcements. We will be covering the following five areas this week.
1. No eating or drinking around your device
2. Carry your device with two hands
3. Be gentle with the keys or case. Be careful not to break them.
4. Take care of your charger
5. Keep your device and charger away from pets.
As a reminder, we are now a one-to-one campus which means students will continue to use these devices in the upcoming years. Take care of your device. You will need it next year.
LAPTOP OR IPAD SUPPORT
Please continue to call the campus for basic log-in, application or website support.

Attendance Information
We will continue to send our attendance letters, emails, and phone calls to address any unexcused absences.
How do we report our Absence?
Email any notes to attendancesueshook@sisd.net .
All notes should include the following:
- The date the student was absent
- Student's full name
- Student ID number
- Grade Level and Teacher's name
- Reason for the absence
- *If they have a doctor’s note, it must be included in the email as an attachment.
Warning Letters for Attendance.
Warning letters will continue to go out to all students that have accumulated 5+ unexcused absences. Our goal continues to be to work with our families and ensure we are following the 90% attendance rule. This year students can still lose credit if they accumulate 9 absences per semester and/or 18 absences in a full year.
