Homework Club Starts on Tuesday, September 3rd: The City of Coronado funds our after- school homework club for CMS students. Homework Club takes place on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the CMS Library. Students can access a quiet study environment under the supervision of a certificated CMS teacher. Students may come any or all days, but once they arrive, they must stay until 4:15. If a student needs to leave before 4:15, parents may pick up their student, provide a note in advance, or the supervising teacher and student may call parents for permission to leave.

Important Updated Bus Routes: Due to new protocol provided by our bus company, there is a strong possibility that there will be 2 bus routes in the afternoon. This is a change from the past several years. In order to be equitable, students will be divided between the early and late return on alternating days. The 2 bus routes will be used only if needed. The early/late placements will be reversed second semester. Students who take the late bus will be at CMS until approximately 4:00pm (M,T,Th,F) and 2:35pm (W), under the care of a CUSD employee.
Starting on Tuesday, September 3rd, all students must have their bus pass in order to ride the bus.
Please see the bus schedule for more details on the routes. Link to the 2019-2020 Student Bus Schedule
Cell Phones: As stated in the handbook, students are to keep their phones off and in their backpacks during school hours. Student cell phones will be taken and stored in the office till the end of the day, if they are seen out on campus. Please be aware that some teachers will be collecting cell phones at the beginning of the period, will then store them in a pocket chart, and will give them back at the end of the period. Also, please refrain from texting your child during the school day. You may call the office if it’s important you get a message to your child.
Messages from CMS ASB (Associated Student Body)
Popcornopolis Fundraiser: ASB is excited to announce our biggest fundraiser of the year! CMS will be selling Popcornopolis to fundraise for the many fun and exciting events put on by our terrific ASB leaders. This year, we'll host CMS dances, school sports tournaments, scholarships for field trips, Spring Fair events, and many more events that support our school.
This Tuesday, ASB will deliver order forms to every CMS student during T3. If every student sells 4 Popcornopolis orders, we will reach a school goal of $4000! To make it more enticing, ASB will hold a friendly competition to see which T3 class can earn the most orders by the end of each week throughout the month of September. Each Friday, ASB representatives will tally up the order forms, and the winning T3 classes will be announced on KCMS.
· 1st place will earn a Pizza Party !
· 2nd place will earn a Donut Party!
Show your Triton Pride: The first Friday of every month is Triton Spirit Friday. Wear your CMS gear and represent! Our first Spirit Friday is September 6th!

Information Night for 2019-2020 8th Grade East Coast Trip March 28 - April 3, 2020
Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019 at 5:00pm in the CMS library
Dear Parents and Students,
I am excited to again be leading a group of Coronado Middle School students on an exciting WorldStrides program to Williamsburg, VA, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, PA, and New York, NY. This year’s trip will take place during the 2018-2019 school year over Spring Break . On this once-in-a-lifetime adventure, students will explore our nation's most important historical sites and experience incomparable learning moments. This trip will enrich the learning experience of students, however, it is not a school activity nor a school sponsored trip.
If your child is not yet registered, there will be a trip information meeting to discuss this wonderful opportunity and provide time for you to ask questions on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 5:00 PM at CMS in the library. The trip is already half full, so if you are interested, attendance is strongly encouraged.
Sincerely,
Ananda Dejarnette
