The end of the semester, January 18th is approaching very quickly.
Here are a few tips to finish strong:
1. Attend all class connections.
2. Complete all assignments on time.
3. Communicate with your teacher if you are unsure.
Internet Safety
Parents please be mindful of your students activity on and offline. There are a number of new apps which allow various forms of communication.
State Testing
Get a glimpse of the upcoming state testing dates. More details about testing will be coming via email in the coming months.
STATE TESTING ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY FOR STUDENTS.
Governor State Contest
Michigan high school, junior high, and elementary school students are invited to submit designs for the cover of the 2018 Michigan State of the State program contest.
Gov. Snyder will deliver his eighth and final State of the State address to a joint session of the Michigan Legislature in the state House Chambers on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. The winner of the student design contest will have the opportunity to meet Snyder and attend the address with one guest.
Students can submit their designs today through Friday, Jan. 5. The winning design will be announced Friday, Jan. 12.
Contest entries should be sized to fit on a 5.5 inch x 8.5 inch cover. On a separate page, students should include with their submission their name, phone number, address, and email address, as well as their parent or guardian’s name, phone number, address, and email address.
Students can submit their designs by email to SOTS@michigan.gov.

Parent to Parent
This is an opportunity for learning coaches to connect with one another, share tactics and techniques across all grade bands.
If you are interested in presenting at Parent to Parent volunteer here!
This month sessions will be from 12pm-1pm.
K5: Lighthouse Outing
This month learning coaches we are depending on you to find a fun activity in your area, organize and serve as a host. Share your plan here and we will invite all K5 families to join you on your fun adventure. Please submit your outing details no later than January 10th.
Let's have some fun this month with K5 Lighthouse outings. This is an opportunity for K5 students and families to come together face to face.
We will continue to offer the opportunity to K5 Learning Coaches to host outings in their area.
LC Discussion Workshops
Log into your Learning Coach account, click "my schedule" and join the LC Discussion Workshop. In these sessions MGLVA staff will provide strategies, tips and techniques to be a more effective and efficient Learning Coach.
Previously recorded sessions can be found on your class connect schedule.
This month sessions will be from 12pm-1pm.
