News from the Nest!
Hopkins Middle School 2022-2023
Greetings Eagle Families,
Groundhog Job Shadow Day takes place annually on February 2, 2023. The Job Shadow Day enables students across the nation to get an up-close look at the specifics of an actual job. On this day, students from across the country shadow scientists, firefighters, mechanics, doctors, and every other type of profession. Job shadowing is an academically motivating educational activity for students to observe the world of work. These experiences allow students an opportunity to explore a career interest and connect the skills learned in school to the workplace. Thursday, February 2nd has been designated as Job Shadowing Day in Richland One. We hope to have 100% of our students participate in this wonderful experience. If you are interested in your child participating on this day, please contact your child’s grade level school counselor and she will give your child a packet to bring home to you. The deadline to return these forms is Wednesday, February 1, 2023.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens
At Hopkins Middle School, we have implemented a book study on
the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.
The 7 Habits are:
Habit 1: Be Proactive: I am in charge of my actions and attitude.
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind: I set goals.
Habit 3: Put First Things First: I work, then play. I prioritize tasks based on my goals.
Habit 4: Think Win-Win: I seek compromise and alternatives when necessary. I can advocate respectfully for my beliefs while also considering others.
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood: I listen to understand rather than to respond or share my thoughts.
Habit 6: Synergize: Together is better.
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw: I take care of myself physically and emotionally.

Mission Statement
We are Hopkins Middle School, a leader in transforming lives through education, empowering all students to achieve their potential and dreams.
