Attendance is VERY Important
Just a quick note about the importance of attendance and students being in class everyday. I know there are lots of sicknesses going around and we want everyone to be healthy, that is most important. Lots of students have been absent and with our rigorous daily schedule I don't want anyone to fall behind. I would ask that if your child was absent that they come and see me before school on the day of their return to pick up anything they missed or complete any work.
Thank you!
What's Happening in the Classroom??
- Innovation: Students will be updating their digital leadership portfolios and looking at their progress through third grade so far! Additionally they will be coding and practicing their typing skills through various technologies.
- Language Arts -We will be finishing our unit, Making Decisions where students have read and compared folktales from around the world to analyze how characters solve problems. This week students will be completing a benchmark online assessment to see how they are progressing towards mastering third grade reading standards.
- Math -We will begin unit 5 which includes, time, geometry and measurement. Click here for the Unit 5 Parent Letter to review vocabulary and skills we will be focusing on throughout the unit.
- Writing - Students will continue to explore the three types of writing: opinion, informational and narrative. Students will be writing a narrative for the writing portion of their online ELA assessment.
- Vocabulary- Students will be able to use reference materials to build their vocabulary. They will show their understanding of the words by using them in a sentence during collaborative conversations and in writing.
- 7 Habits - Habit 5: Seek Firs to Understand, then to be Understood. Students will be recognized for listening to others ideas.
- Genius Hour- Students will finish presenting their pitch and when we return from spring break everyone will be beginning their research phase of the project.
