Lock Down Drill Reminders
- You should close and lock your doors and turn off the lights. Move away from any windows.
- You should tell the students that if we were having a real lock down that it would probably be very noisy. We would be setting the fire alarm off because that notifies the police...we want the person to know that the police are on the way. Obviously we aren't going to leave if we have been told to stay in the classrooms.
- Tell students that you will have VERY important things to tell them and so they need to be listening and looking at you. (Remember we are not telling them anything during a drill as far as what they need to do- but just letting them know there are things you would need to tell them in a real emergency.)

SRI Testing- Reminders
- All students in grades 1-5 must take the SRI by January 22, 2016.
- Remember- we had discussed not giving the SRI between the first administration and the January administration in order to show student growth. Now that you have given it to show growth for your SLO (Student Learning Objective), if a student is still not on grade level you might consider giving it monthly in the second semester if that data is used in helping to plan your instruction.
- 30 days must pass between each administration. Students should take the SRI no more than 5 times in a school year. (FRA is three times in a school year)
- Please turn in a copy of the SRI growth report when all students have taken the SRI during the January test administration window.
Brag Tag Assembly
Our 2nd quarter Brag Tag Assemblies are coming up on Tuesday, January 20.
Required Annual Videos
This is a reminder that staff members are required to annually watch training videos. All training videos must be watched and completion forms submitted by February 1, 2016.
Information regarding logging on and documenting that you viewed the videos is in an email from Ashley Woods that was sent to everyone on December 16.
Reminders
- Weekly entries should be made into Infinite Campus in each subject area.
- Be sure to keep your websites up-to-date!
- I would like copies of all classroom newsletters. These can be sent to me electronically or a paper copy in my mailbox.
- Please continue to use the clip up tickets, Safe, Respectful, and Responsible Compliment cards (or verbal compliments) keeping the 4:1 in mind!

Video Introduction
I stumbled across this video when looking for more information regarding the Rigor, Relevance, Relationship framework that we have been talking about. Central Dauphin School District in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, (11,000 students and 900 staff) embarked on a similar journey in the spring of 2013. A report I found on their district website detailed processes nearly identical to what JCPS has just begun.
We are on a journey....together....this is not a one year expedition..... I wanted you to know others have and are successfully traveling the same path we are. I am excited about the possibilities for North School and for JCPS. "What will have the greatest impact on our students....WE WILL!" Thank you for all that you do!
