NEW LEBANON SCHOOL
Weekly Updates
¿Necesita leer nuestro boletín en español?
Hello Bobcat Families! We had a jam-packed week and of learning and fun at New Lebanon School. We started the week hosting two sessions for our magnet open house that were well attended virtually, despite the change of date due to a previous snow day. Thank you to everyone who attended and shared the information with friends and neighbors! We are heading into a magical time of the year where learning takes place in "fast motion" - light bulbs are going off every day, connections are being made, and students are growing at a rapid pace. We encourage you to ask your child a question at the end of each day...you can try:
- How did somebody help you today?
- What was the best thing that happened at school today?
- Tell me one thing you learned today.
- If you were the teacher, what would you teach your class?
- Tell me something you learned about a friend today.
- What made you feel proud today?
- What would you have changed about your day?
We ended the week with our K, 1st, and 2nd grade Theater Performance - thank you to Ms. Pugliano for leading this event, to all of the teachers and staff who supported her, and to the families who attended yesterday or will watch the recording this weekend.
We hope you are staying warm, safe, and having fun during this weekend snow storm. Updates are below!
GPS Health Alerts - Opt-In
We have received feedback from so many of you and have decided to pivot with the way we report daily positive COVID cases. Some of you want this level of information and feel safer understanding the numbers, and some of you would like to opt out.
Instead of families receiving a daily email from their principals, we have created a new daily district report for those that wish to receive them. To subscribe, please go to our GPS Daily Health Alert page, click on the "Follow Greenwich Public Schools" box, and enter your email address to be automatically added to this specific distribution list. We will send a single email each Monday through Friday at the end of the school day.
CT DPH Voluntary Testing Update
The State has now expanded Project COVID DeteCT, an opt-in program to facilitate weekly COVID testing, to all students and staff regardless of vaccination status. If your child was previously enrolled and recently ineligible due to their vaccination status, you will need to enroll them again. Testing at GHS will begin the week of January 31 due to midterm schedules. If your child is already enrolled, testing will continue as planned. Staff must be enrolled in order to participate in this program. We can confirm that testing will start for all that have registered this upcoming week. Consent forms, available in both English and Spanish, are to be submitted electronically directly to the testing facilitators through their website.
Once enrolled, COVID DeteCT will let families know the timeframe for the testing.
If you choose to opt-in, we encourage you to sign up as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, you may email Nurse Jessica Wieneke.

Welcome, Ms. Smalley, student teacher in 5R!
Hi my name is Molly Smalley, and I am a senior Elementary Education student at Southern Connecticut State University. I was born and raised in Stamford, CT where I attended St. Cecilia and the Trinity Catholic Schools. Upon graduation in 2017, I spent a few years at Quinnipiac University before transferring.
In my free time I love keeping busy with crafts and water color painting! My favorite subject is mathematics, which grew out of my love and appreciation for my own professors. I am so excited to be working with the 5th graders for these next weeks. Go Bobcats!
