Planning Ahead
Teachers are in the process of planning for next year. If your child will NOT be attending first grade at MPES please let me know so I won't place your child in a first grade classroom. You can send me a note or email. Thanks so much for helping us to plan ahead.
Box Tops!
A special "thank you" to the Kinsella Family for sending in Box Tops this year!
ABC Countdown!
We are having so much fun with our ABC countdown!
Next week we will celebrate letters I-M. Please make sure you look on your child's calendar to know what is coming up!
Make sure your child has returned his/her permission slip to go to the park on P-Day. If you are interested in helping your child walk to the park, you are welcome to meet the kindergarten classes at the bus ramp. Please remember to send your child to school in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes on this date. In case of rain, we will reschedule. Also, please let me know if you are interested in donating popsicles on P-Day.
A special thank you to Maya's mom for offering to send in the watermelon. We appreciate her so much for offering to do this for the class!
Student Behavior
What's coming up next week:
Next week we will focus on the ocean, its animals and how they live. Students will learn about whales, dolphins, sharks, sea turtles, and other animals. I am working hard to integrate subject areas across the curriculum and connect them to our learning about the ocean. We will also be watching Moana on M-Day. If you have a copy of the movie and are able to share it with us, please send me an email.
In math, students will take their summative math assessment over addition and subtraction. Students will be expected to show their math thinking to solve number sentences and number stories. They will do this with addends and ten-frames. These tests are extremely difficult for young children and are written at the highest level of thinking and rigor.
