NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 5 | 27 MAY 2022

Rebecca Clarke | Principal
Dear parent and caregivers,
The week started very wet but concluded with some magnificent weather. It was lovely to see the students enjoy the sunshine during recess and lunchtime. As we approach the half-way point of the term, once again I thank you for all your support as we continue to navigate through the disruptions of Covid.
Today’s assembly was hosted by the Year 5/6 class, and they presented a wonderful item based on growth mindset, the advantages of positive thinking and never giving up! In the world we live in today it is a great reminder and a fabulous message for our younger students. Thank you to Mr Rebeiro for preparing the students so well!
One of our School Improvement focuses this year was to establish Faction colours, names and symbols. I was very excited to share with our students today at assembly that as a staff we have selected our four faction colours and linked one of our values to each colour. Our new faction colours and values are as follows;
- Gold – Charity
- Green – Compassion
- Orange – Humility
- Blue – Service
Now it is over to our school community to name our Factions. I invite all members of our school community … staff, students, parents, caregivers, grandparents … to offer suggestions. The names can be based on Saints names associated with St Elizabeth or the local community, local flora and/or fauna, local Aboriginal names for the area … the list is endless. All suggestions need to be submitted via the following link by Week 9, Friday June 24. I am really looking forward to seeing what names are suggested.
The Year 4 students enjoyed a wonderful morning at the Fremantle Prison on Thursday and returned with lots of interesting facts and stories. A big thank you to Mrs Curtis, Mrs Tie and Ms Hill for organising such a fabulous experience.
Congratulations to Mrs Curtis for successfully obtaining a WasteSorted Schools grant for St Elizabeth’s from the WA State Government. The grant will enable our students to further develop sound waste avoidance knowledge, skills and values. As a school we are committed to sustainability and encouraging sustainable behaviours and this grant allows us to instil positive environmental values and attitudes in our students and the wider school community.
Thank you to Mrs Justine O’Malley for conducting our first ‘Keeping Safe Parent Workshop’ on Monday and holding a successful ‘Year 5 Boy’s Puberty Workshop’ on Thursday night. The positive feedback from these events is always encouraging to hear. A reminder that there will be a FIFO Family Dinner and Workshop on Thursday June 9 starting at 5pm.
With the weather getting cooler, I would like to remind everyone that all students are expected to wear the correct school uniform, including the school jumper and black shoes. I have asked teachers to remind students about this and would appreciate your support. If you have any concerns or queries regarding the uniforms, please direct them to myself or Emma Fernandez.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
God bless
Rebecca Clarke
Principal

Carpark Etiquette
Just a reminder about our carpark to keep everyone safe. If you are using the Kiss and Drive service you must turn left into the carpark and drive through the staff park. Some cars are coming straight down and we have had a few close calls this week. If you are parking and walking you have two options; park outside the school and walk in the front gates or drive in and turn right into the parent/visitor carpark.
Outside the School Entrance Gate Safety - just a reminder that basic, road rules apply. Please do not drive on the brick paving/curbing to get into the school gate. Cars park in one line and when the the gates open, the cars proceed in the entrance gate. This is to ensure the safety of our parents but, also our duty of care and safety to our students and staff.
Online Uniform Orders
Please see the school website to download the form and follow ordering and payment instructions.
Year 6 Confirmation Student and Parent Workshop
We pray for our year six Confirmation students over the next few weeks as they continue to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
National Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. Over the next five weeks all teachers in Kindy-Year 6 have a focus on Reconciliation which, will be show cased in our open afternoon on Wednesday, 29 June.
