First Grade News

February 29th - March 4th


Please plan to stop by Open House on Thursday, March 10th to have your child show you around their classroom and school. This is a come and go activity from 6:30 - 7:30. Hope to see you there. The students are excited to share their learning with you!

Spelling: Long i ~ silent e words

Test on March 4th

On Level: mile, hike, slime, ripe, fine, slide, kites, smile, eight, ate, same, plot

Challenge: advise, advice, splice, thrive, aisle

Learning Topics for the Week

Reading/Language Arts: Literacy Groups - ask relevant questions and identify sources for finding answers., fluency practice, handwriting, Spelling -long i silent e, students will write non fiction books

Math: students will use correct symbols to add/subtract / word problems

Science: Living vs. Nonliving and animal research

Social Studies: Students can identify historical figures who have exhibited a love of individualism and inventiveness and how they helped our community, state, and nation.

A Day at the Zoo

Please check your child's folder for an orange 4 page note with general information about our upcoming field trip!!! If you are interested in chaperoning please make sure you have completed the district background check!!! You must be on the district approved volunteer list in order to chaperone. This is located on the district website.
