Genetic Variation

What is Genetic Variation?
Genetic Variation is when the alleles in a gene change within a population. Genetic Variation is important because it helps provide the genetic information for natural selection.
What is Natural Selection?
Natural Selection is the result of the interactions between the genetic variation in the population and environment.
What are some examples of Genetic Variation?
Different colored hair.
This is an example of Genetic Varition because not everyone has the same hair color. The genes passed down through the parents of a child, determine the hair color.
Growth
Growth is an unknown trait until the child has reached the stopping point in their growing period. Depending on the genes that are given to that child, we won't really know how tall he/she will be.
Fingerprints
Fingerprints are always different from everyone elses. There are no two fingerprints alike which help poilce and CIA agents find victims to crimes.
