THUNDERRIDGE WEEKLY UPDATE
September 22, 2022
Patterson's Perspective
Grizzly Families,
Homecoming Week was a great success! Thank you to all who participated in the parade and attended the many events.
ThunderRidge Student Government did an amazing job planning and organizing the week. Field Day was a memorable experience for both students and staff; hopefully many of you were able to watch the live stream. Mr. Sullivan is always a fantastic MC, and even suffered a flesh wound presenting the trophy to the seniors.
This is a special week at TRHS, and it takes a lot of planning and effort from so many people. It would not be possible without them. The committee will debrief and discuss ways to make the week even better for students, staff, and the community.
This Friday, September 23rd, is a Professional Development Day and students do not attend school. The day is spent as a school and in departments to go over goals, staff development, and data. Our staff will be collaborating on curriculum and strategies to support students' achievement. Some of our departments will be working with other high schools throughout the district to focus on ways to maximize collaboration time with those that teach similar content throughout DCSD, as well as discussing lesson planning, classroom management, and other pertinent topics.
Thank you all for of your support and please reach out with questions and feedback.
Have a great weekend!

IB Update
This week in the world of IB sees our program building bridges with our fellow IB programs around the district. One of the major goals this year at ThunderRidge in the IB world is to try and take advantage of the global network of similar programs. We have another school close at hand at Douglas County High School in Castle Rock, so we here at TR will start a little closer to home before branching out to schools further afield. With that in mind, the previously mentioned Portugal trip planning is well underway with DCHS, while our IB science teachers are working together with the DC teachers to build stronger connections for our students. We hope that these connections will strengthen both of our programs and IB in general. It also will give our amazing IB students the chance to connect with other like-minded students outside of their ThunderRidge community.
Donations π€§
With allergies, colds, and other bugs flying, the library is perilously low on tissues and Clorox wipes. So many students are in and out of the library all day, and we would be grateful for any donations! Students can bring them directly to us or leave them at the security desk marked for the library. Thank you!

π Sophomores
This week, sophomores focused their time on writing their goals for their Personal Projects. Students will begin researching their topic and refine goals as needed throughout the rest of this month. We discussed example goals and making it relatable to something they are already passionate about.

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING DROP OFF/PICK UP
To ensure student safety, we ask that you drop off/pick up students in the designated YELLOW areas.
