Have You Paid Your Dues?
Last Week's Recap
Continuing our theme - we are moving on to the country of Japan. Girl Scouts really seems to be interested in birds (we've already done the Eagle and the Robin) so we will continue with birds and focus on the Japanese Crane.
*We looked through a photography book about Japan. The girls didn't know a lot about the country, so they enjoyed the colorful pictures, especially the Sumo wrestler!
* It was a beautiful afternoon, so we took the girls outside for a physical activity. Shanell led the group in some yoga poses and stretching exercises. It definitely helps to get them out and moving after a long day at school!
*We moved back inside for our Origami project - I told the brief version of the story of "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes". It is a beautiful story, but too long to read in one setting - the girls were interested in it, so if you have a chance to pick it up at the library, it is definitely worth the time. The girls then folded origami dogs and cranes. I am not the greatest at folding, some of the girls did better than me!
November 19th Meeting - Candy Sushi
We will be doing our cooking project there so we don't make a mess in the SE library. I have heard from 7 people so far, so it is a go! We will be using Girl Scout funds to buy the ingredients.
We were going to have the girls try a piece of real sushi first (just a simple California Roll, and only if they want to) Does anyone have a seafood allergy we need to be aware of?
