Letter to West End Bus Parents
for parents of students who ride buses to/from school
Parents of West End Bus Students,
We need your help with some concerns. We are having an increased number of incidents where students are not following rules/expectations. There are many instances of students yelling and screaming on the bus, students moving/standing while the bus is moving, crawling/laying on the floor, and/or not staying in assigned seats. All of this taking place with the bus drivers repeatedly reminding students what they should be doing while riding the bus. I, Mr. Mohr, have even spoken with entire buses before they leave school grounds about their behavior, only to have them not follow rules anyway. Safety is a priority for us and our bus drivers. Many of these behaviors affect the safety of everyone who rides the bus.
Please discuss with your child(ren) how they are to behave while riding the bus to and from school. If students are not able to follow these expectations, the drivers have been asked to write them up. Consequences, which have been sent home earlier in the year, are as follows:
- Warning
- Lunch/Recess Detention
- 1 Day Bus Suspension (Parents must provide transportation to and from school.)
- 3 Day Bus Suspension (Parents must provide transportation to and from school.)
- 5 Day Bus Suspension (Parents must provide transportation to and from school.)
- 7 Day Bus Suspension (Parents must provide transportation to and from school.)
- 10 Day Bus Suspension (Parents must provide transportation to and from school.)
- Loss of Bus Riding Privileges
Suspending students from riding the bus is not something we want to do; but if necessary, is a consequence that may be given to insure the safety of everyone on the bus.
Your help in addressing this with your child(ren) is greatly appreciated.
Enjoy your break!
Gary Mohr
