Wednesday, February 17th- 100th Day Celebration

Thank you!

Thank you so much for volunteering and donating items for Valentine's Day and 100th Day of school. It's such a busy time of year and I really appreciate all of your help!!

Thank you Mrs. Melissa!

HUGE thank you to Mrs. Melissa for coming in on Tuesday to talk about dance... and more importantly... accepting differences within people. We learned about the history of dance, made up a dance about our names, created a dance about kindness, and talked about how just because a friend might have a different hobby than others, doesn't mean they should be treated any differently! We loved the lesson. Thank you Mrs. Melissa at Mill School in Lambertville!

This week, we...

-Played a game called Bears on a Bus about how to fill a 10 frame. We are working towards addition to 10!

-We made shape robots. Cutting and drawing shapes can be particularly challenging at this age so this was a super fun activity! We used shape stencils too for the first time :)

Writer's Workshop

WOW! These kindergarteners are doing some wonderful work with writing our new small moment narratives! A small moment narrative is a narrative that zooms in on one tiny moment. For instance, a student would write about going on a ride at Disney World, rather than the whole trip to Disney.

Reader's Workshop

The kindergarteners continue to read their just right books and look books during readers workshop. Kindergarteners practiced looking for words that repeat themselves, phrases that repeat themselves, and reading with fluency.

We have been practicing tapping out CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words such as dog, lip, cup, hat, jug, fix, cat, and lot. We will be working with word families soon!

Classroom Supplies Wanted

Hi! We are in need of a couple things in the classroom. I know it's such a busy year but they would be appreciated!

- Packing Tape

- Method Multi Surface Cleaner
- Paper towels

- Disinfecting wipes

Thank you!

Mystery Reader

Sign up to be a mystery Reader by going to the link above!

Mystery Readers are scheduled for Thursdays at 3:00. If this time does not work for you, email me and I can try to work something out!

Winter Weather Reminder

Thank you for sending the kiddos into school with warm jackets, gloves, hats and scarves. It's chilly out there and they need it during outdoor recess. Just a reminder to practice having them zip themselves up when they put their jacket on. Right around this age is when they should be able to do it independently!

Whether kindergarteners are just looking at the pictures, pointing out letters, or even identifying words, having books for children to look at is ideal to helping them become a beginning reader AND start to have a love for reading!

Follow the directions below to purchase books. Your purchases will also give our class “points” which I can redeem for books and activities to use in our classroom!
