May It Be of Benefit

Hello Families,

With the Omicron surge behind us and the mask mandate lifting at the end of next week, we are all breathing a little easier. Thank you for hanging in there for just 5 more school days of mandatory mask-wearing.

Aside from that positive news, we have more to celebrate. Your children just completed their 2nd Trimester Assessments, and their report cards are ready to be shared with you during parent-teacher conferences. Looking at our schoolwide data, it's clear that though students, on the whole, have suffered what has come to be known as "learning loss" due to time out of school, they have also made good gains in the time that they have been here! 75% of our students have met their "growth goal" up to this point in the year for iReady Reading and 65% have met their "growth goal" so far in iReady Math. This means that many students are growing and making progress towards catching up! Be sure to arrange a conference with your child's teacher to get specific information on where your child is and how we can support him or her to finish this year strong!

Drop Off Line Please remember: It is preferred that you drop off your child in the North/Gym Parking lot. If you choose to use the South/Cafe drive-through for drop-off, you must make haste if the bus is behind you. They have several other stops to make in the morning and waiting for any amount of time for kids to disembark causes a domino effect of late kids at several other schools. When dropping off drivers MUST remain in their cars. If you need to leave your car, please take a moment to park in a parking spot. When other drivers need to go around you, this puts small, walking children at risk of getting hit by moving cars. Please be mindful of our children's safety.	School Mask Mandate Ends!! Cub Scout Food Drive Cub Scout Pack 359 has a bin in the office to collect non-perishable food. Suggested items are peanut butter, canned soup, rice, and oatmeal. These donated goods help families in need right here in Redding. The Scouts thank you for your support!

Cub Scout Food Drive

Cub Scout Pack 359 has a bin in the office to collect non-perishable food. Suggested items are peanut butter, canned soup, rice, and oatmeal. These donated goods help families in need right here in Redding. The Scouts thank you for your support!

Students frequently show up to start their day in class and report that they are hungry and didn't have breakfast. Often, when we check with parents, they tell us that students were dropped off with plenty of time to go eat breakfast in our cafe, but students hit the ground running and forget their empty tummies when they see friends on the playground. So, we had signs made for both the Kindergarten playground and the "Big Kids" playground that remind students to get breakfast before class starts. And, no- we are not serving coffee in our cafe :) Those must be steaming mugs of oatmeal.


Heart-a-thon Update Thank you, families, for your support for the Heart-a-thon in February! Classrooms raised a total of $4,167.25! The class who raised the "top dollar" was Mrs. Uronen's with $760 followed by Mrs. Hickle's class with $591. Thank you to the PTO for putting on this event, the parents who volunteered to help the day of the jogathon or donated waters, and to ALL those who sponsored runners. Every dollar of your donations went directly to classrooms for field trips, crafts, snacks, etc.	Laminator Thank you also to our PTO for helping us purchase a new laminator. Our old one was so old, they were unable to get parts to repair it and it was on its last leg. If your child brings home a reinforced folder or a darling art project that has been preserved for years to come, you can know that your support of our fundraisers (primarily Cookie Dough and Believe Catalog Sales) makes a difference! The class who raised the "top dollar" was Mrs. Uronen's with $760 followed by Mrs. Hickle's class with $591. Thank you to the PTO for putting on this event, the parents who volunteered to help the day of the jogathon or donated waters, and to ALL those who sponsored runners. Every dollar of your donations went directly to classrooms for field trips, crafts, snacks, etc.
