Book Care
We have been stressing the importance of good book care with students. Please help reinforce with your child how important it is to take good care of their books. Review with your child how they can care for their library books. Some of the things students can do to take care of their books are:
- Carry books to and from school in a backpack.
- Protect your book in a plastic bag, especially if you carry cold lunch (sometimes food can leak).
- Handle a book with clean hands only.
- Do not eat or drink while reading your book.
- Keep books away from pets or babies that may damage them.
- Turn pages at the corners to prevent rips.
- Keep books in a designated place so they don't get lost.
- Write library days on a calendar as a reminder.
Book Returns
The students are excited about checking out library books! Parents, please help your child remember his or her library book on their Library Day. You as parents can make it even more enjoyable by reading the book to your child before they return it to the library.
Please Mark Your Calendar - Scholastic Book Fair
We invite you to visit our Scholastic Book Fair on Thursday, October 17th, from 6:00-7:30 PM in Cormier School’s gym and experience a celebration of reading that provides families the opportunity to get involved in a universal mission: encouraging kids to read every day so they can lead better lives. Hope to see you there!
Birthday Book Club
Donate a book (preferably a new book) on your child's birthday or any other day and your child's name will be added to our Birthday Book Club wall in the library! A bookplate with your son's or daughter's name will also be attached to the donated book. If you are wondering what titles to purchase, this is an excellent time of the year for Fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving books. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the library at 448-2875 ext. 7113.
RIF – Coming Soon!
On Tuesday, Oct. 8th, we will be having our first RIF (Reading is Fundamental) book distribution in the library. Reading is Fundamental is America's leading non-profit children's literacy organization. The theme for our first book distribution is "Clifford Loves Reading." All students and staff are asked to dress in red and black that day. There will be a variety of Clifford titles, as well as many other titles, to select from.
