Sevierville Intermediate School
2021-22 School Year
First Six Weeks
What a busy but productive beginning to the new school year! It is hard to believe that six weeks have already passed. I am truly honored to be a part of your child’s educational experience. These elementary school years build such a strong foundation for future successes; therefore, I encourage you to continue to check your child's planner daily and stay in contact with their classroom teachers.
Our teachers have faced unprecedented challenges in this first six weeks, and they have risen to them with grace, care, and excellence. Their dedication has kept your children safe, engaged, and, most importantly, in school. Please reach out to your child's teacher and thank him/her for their committment and support.
We want to celebrate our successes with you! Thank you for sharing your child with us and I look forward to working with you this school year.
Covid Updates
The Mountain Tough Challenge
In order to make our school buildings as safe as possible, our school district is monitoring local and school data regarding the COVID-19 virus on a daily basis. Our community has seen a recent surge of COVID that has also been reflected in classrooms around our district. The health department also reports a considerable uptick in the 11-20 year old age category.
It is clear that the new variant in our community is both more communicable and more transmissible to children. In keeping with Governor Lee’s order, we will certainly remain respectful of parents’ choice to wear a mask. As a community, however, we must work together to slow the spread of this virus.
Trauma Informed Schools
We learned how trauma is not always about the event itself, but more how you process and experience the event. The good news is there is hope for our students who have experienced toxic stress in their young lives, and hopefully the students can eventually bounce back from adversity.

This year we have the continued opportunity to create new relationships and make a difference in the lives of our students. We are already starting off stronger than last year, with ALL of our remote learning students and teachers being back with us in person for the upcoming year. I look forward to new challenges and using our collective abilities to move our students forward in their learning. We are in this together, and we will keep moving forward.
Best wishes for a great year together as we honor the past, treasure the present, and shape the future.
