But Who Do You Say That I Am?

Jesus Is My Savior

Jesus is Coming

Isaiah 61:1-2

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,

to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn.

Who I Think Jesus Is

"But who do you say that I am", is a question that has been running threw my mind since the beggining. To me, I see Jesus like a lot of others did; human. He was a professor like all of my teachers. He may of had the same feelings as we did, but he was different. Thanks to Jesus we are saved from our sins and we are forgiven when we are asked to be. Jesus is not only a teacher, but he's a mentor. Hundreds of thousands of people look up to him and ask for his guidance in everyday situations. Jesus is like your closest friend that you can ask for help any day, any time.

When reading Matthew 16:13-20, I read the footnotes to help me have a better understanding of some of the terms. In the footnotes for 16:20 "Matthew makes explicit that the prohibition has to do with speaking of Jesus as the Messiah" helped me understand that Jesus didn't want people to know that he was the Messiah.
