Intro
hmmm...What is a simple machine? Why are they so important? What are the simple machines? Simple machines are everywhere; I mean EVERYWHERE!! Just look around right now!! They're at home, at school, at the movie theater, and even the streets you walk in. You just got to look!!!
Simple Machine
It's simply a simple device for altering the magnitude or direction of a force. The six basic types are the lever, wheel and axle, pulley, screw, wedge, and inclined plane.
Don't forget about force!!!
Wheel and axle
The doorknob actions is when the knob on one side of the door is turned, the shaft retracts the spring-loaded latch that holds the door closed. Without the knob in place, more force would be needed to turn the shaft and retract the latch.
Srew
The threads of a screw are made of one long inclined plane which is around a shank or cylinder. The inclination of the plane allows it to fasten more easily as well as improving the holding power of the screw.
Lever
A hammer removes nails by puuling the nails out. When in action the work reduces the amount of force needed to move an object or lifting a load.
WORK!!!
Pulley
A window blind works by when pulling the rope. The rope is pulled from one end and make its way through the pulley, while the object is lifted on the other end. The more pulleys that are used, the less effort is needed to lift the object. However, if more pulleys are used, then more rope must be pulled to move the object as far.
That's it!!!
Now your simple machine pros...
