Principal's Newsletter
From the Desk of Ms. Clark
May 17, 2018
Dear Parents,
As we all know that the warm weather can be very distracting, our teachers are working hard to keep our students focused and engaged during these last few weeks since year-end learning is critical. Our school year is quickly coming to an end, but our students are still hard at work in all of their classes. Along with helping our students to learn new things, we also remind them to love each other, to have forgiveness in our heart, and to build kindness into each and every day!
As we continue to honor Mary during this special month, let us remember the words of Saint Katharine Drexel: “Help me, Mother, to take from the hands of Jesus, in the spirit of humble love, devotion to my daily crosses.”
God’s blessings,
Ms. Clark
Race for Education Rescheduled
Students may wear their gym uniforms with socks and sneakers on the day of the race. Sunscreen and reasonably sized water bottles are encouraged.
State of the School Address Summary
Thank you to all of the families who attended our State of the School Address last night. Below is a summary of the address if you were unable to attend. Congratulations to our winners and thank you for your endless support!
After-School Clubs
Our school has offered a variety of after-school clubs. Due to low enrollment and lack of interest, some of our clubs have stopped. Knowing the importance of after-school clubs and how they can ultimately build students' confidence and self-esteem, we would like to hear from you. Please complete the short survey to help us plan for the 2018-2019 school year's extracurricular activities.
Late Arrivals
All students (Kindergarten to 8th grade) are expected to arrive at school on time. A student’s entire day can be thrown off by simply missing the morning routine in his/her classroom. Additionally, by arriving on time you send the message that you respect others and appreciate the value of their time and attention.
Annual School Picnic
Summer Uniforms
Students are expected to be in complete uniform each day. Please carefully review our policies for sneakers, nail polish, haircuts, and jewelry. Infractions will be given to students who are not in compliance with our uniform policy.
Registration Reminder
This is a friendly reminder to our families who have not re-registered for the 2018-2019 school year. Many of our classes now have waiting lists and / or seats are filling up with new registrations. We do not want you to lose your place. Knowing your intentions helps us to plan and budget for the next school year.
Class Trips
Notices have been sent to remind you to please ensure that your tuition account is current. Per school policy, tuition must be up to date in order for students to participate in upcoming class trips and other year-end activities.

Financial Aid
Applications for students who will be enrolled in K-12 during the 2018-2019 school year will be available for parents. Applications for Archdiocesan schools, parish schools, and diocesan high schools can be accessed at www.blocs.org or by going directly to https://online.factsmgt.com/aid
Please know that no parent who sincerely desires a Catholic education for their child at Saint Katharine Drexel School will be denied registration because of true financial hardships. Each parish will address this concern on a case by case basis for their parishioners. Any additional financial aid scholarship, in addition to the parishes’ subsidy, will be predetermined, and awarded by the parish, prior to the start of the academic year. Families who believe they are eligible and in need of this aid are asked to contact their local parish office and request a financial aid packet which will include the request for all pertinent financial information.
