The Peoples Opinion

James Buchanan was not a well liked man. Before Abraham Lincoln was elected president, Buchanan sat in office and did nothing to try to prevent the coming of civil war. In fact, he called slavery "...a matter of little practical importance," because he heard that the Supreme courts decicion was to allow slavery. He did nothing as a lame duck to keep States from recieding from the United States. At the end of his presidency, he was glad to be out of office.
