A Note from the Interim Principal
Dear Families,
Well, this is my last Hornet Herald. How the time has flown by! It has been an honor to serve as the Interim Principal of Holy Family Catholic School. I have learned a lot in my six months with this community. I've learned that the students at HFCS are like brothers and sisters --- which can be good and bad. :) I've learned that the families at Holy Family are welcoming and supportive and want what is best for their children. I've learned that amazing faith and the love of Christ is present in this school. I've learned that it's good to be "stung". I've learned that small schools have BIG spirit. Thank you for having me as a Hornet. I am so excited for the future of HFCS under the leadership of Dr. John Shreve. I will always remember each of you!
Blessings,
Veronica Tucker

HFCS Community Night at the Rangers Game!
This year, we are excited to have Holy Family Catholic School Community Night with the Texas Rangers. The game is on Tuesday, May 24th versus the Angels. To school, students may wear Rangers t-shirts or shirts from any professional or college team. Must wear uniform bottoms and shoes.
This is "Ten Dollar Tuesday"! Fans can get $10 Upper Box tickets, and $10 parking. Fans may also go online and purchase a $10 Meal Deal that includes a hot dog, soda, and peanuts or popcorn. Meal Deal is available to online purchasers of the Upper Box sections only, and will cut off 48 hours in advance of the game. This is a great price!
If you are interested, please go to the website:
http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/tex/ticketing/specials.jsp
Scroll down to "Ten Dollar Tuesdays" and click "buy tickets". We can not reserve the section. However, it was recommended that we click on Upper Box and then section 325. Our goal will be to get in this section (or as close to it as possible.)
If you plan to attend, please send me an e-mail (vtucker@hfsfw.org). It will be nice to have an idea of how many will be attending from Holy Family. If you have any specific questions about the game-day logistics, please contact Jan Barker at jbarker@hfsfw.org.
Looking forward to seeing you at the Ballpark! Go Rangers!
Field Day - Moved to Wednesday!
Due to the prediction of bad weather, Field Day has been moved to this Wednesday, May 25th! Miss Barker has a fun day planned! Students may wear athletic shorts, t-shirt and tennis shoes. Students may also bring a towel (with a label) to dry off after the water activities. Students will be divided into groups based on age. Field day will last from 8:45 - 11:10. The first hour of events will take place inside. After a short break, outside water activities will take place on the field. Lunch will be served at 11:15 with students returning to class at 11:45. We have a noon dismissal on Wednesday. If you are able to help, please send an e-mail to Miss Barker at jbarker@hfsfw.org.

From Our HFCS PTO
Dear Families,
Thank You for our children, families, teachers, staff, school, church, and community, “Thank You!” Thank so many of you. Not once this year was there an event or request that was not graciously staffed by volunteer parents, extended family, teachers, and staff. From Back to School to Field Day you got it done!
I could not name all the names. I would like to but I would miss someone; there have been that many. To tease your memories, here are some of the events of the year: Back to School, Fall Festival – Class Booths and Dad’s Club food!, Christmas Parties, Teacher Luncheons, Open House, Valentine Parties, Spirit Nights, Muffins with Mom, Boxtops, Teacher Appreciation Week, Donuts with Dad, Fiesta Day Parties, and of course – Field Day to come on Wednesday.
I must point out Room Parents. Our volunteer efforts are dependent on their leadership. Thank you RP’s!!!
See you at Field Day and have a wonderful and safe summer. Oh, and mark your calendars for Back to School Bash July 30.

Thank you, Lunchroom Volunteers!
Big thank you to all the lunchroom volunteers this year. We are going to miss the parents of eighth-graders who volunteered weekly who have kept our lunchroom running smoothly for numerous years: Gerty Cussnick, Harald Cussnick. Karen Fitzsimons, Maribelle Sibal. With the loss of this crew, we definitely need replacements for next year. Volunteering in the lunch room is a fun way to get to know your children's classmates- while earning volunteer hours.
Thank you, Mandy Jonkers!!!
Thank you 8th Grade!
Thank you, Advisory Council!
Prayer Garden
This summer, HFCS is installing a beautiful new feature on the southeast corner of the school building — the Holy Family Alumni Prayer Garden. In connection with the school’s ongoing 70th anniversary celebration, HFCS families and alumni, as well as all Holy Family parishioners, are invited to participate in this project. There are two ways to be a part of the Prayer Garden project:
(1) Sponsor a brick — Have your name, the name of a HFCS student or alumni, or another special message engraved on a brick in the garden walkway. To honor HFCS’s 70th year of Teaching the Way of Jesus Christ, you can reserve your brick today for $70.
(2) Put a name on the HFCS Wall of Service — Honor a beloved current or former HFCS teacher, administrator, volunteer, or anyone else who has impacted our children’s lives in the last 70 years by submitting their name for inclusion on the Wall of Service plaque that will be installed in the Prayer Garden ($20 per name).
