Clark Weekly News
For the week ending 10/21/22
Gratitude and Celebration!
Thanks to the Family of Matthew Evans for staff breakfast... who doesn't love Jupiter Donuts???? In fact, we got more Jupiter Donuts Thursday from Sophia Taboada. Yum!
Good luck to Logan Vickery as he competes in swimming for MCHS today!
Thanks to Mr. Omar for attending the Martin Youth Leadership trip with students this week!
Thanks to Ms. Mazz and NHS for doing a road clean up this week!
We celebrated the dedication of the Eleni Deslis Memorial Butterfly Garden this week at a school assembly. We are so grateful to her parents, friends, and our staff who shared her lasting legacy. We have butterflies in her favorite colors of teal and purple that students are encouraged to take when they need to know that their life matters and they just need to think some kind thoughts. Eleni was the person to always cheer people up. Her garden is located by the patio and all students are welcome to sit and enjoy.
Shout out to all of those students nominated for this month's pillar of Trustworthiness: Jackson Banyas, Olivia Beagle, Dakota Beurrier, Rachel Cannon, Khloie Cowart, Noor Fernandez, John Fleming, Gerard Grate, Mattine Jensen, Christina Josie, Anthony Prezioso, Kathi Ramos, Colton Stewart, Zoe Williams, & Taylor Wright. And extra special celebration for the student who was selected as the recipient this month, Gerard Grate! Gerard is a wonderful young man and the "voice of Clark" as he shares morning announcements and never misses a day. He is a friend to all and always follows through on his word. We are grateful to have a rising leader like Gerard here in the Clark family!
Thanks to the staff and students who were so kind and caring with a card and gift for Principal's Month. I truly have the best job in the universe! ~Dr. Judd
We celebrated the following staff members who were nominated by parents and students for going above and beyond for students. Mrs. Decker, Ms. Jones, Mr. Fernando
Re: Mrs. Decker: As you may know, my student does not have classes at Clark but all at IRSC. So he went to get his books and realized that it was during an off time. Mrs. Decker went above and beyond to make sure he got his books and did not have to wait or come back to Clark to get his books. Her helpfulness goes beyond that but this is a specific incident that we were very thankful for her help.
Re: Ms. Jones: Mrs. Jones is always very helpful for my son with college course registration, and coaching him in the right direction when he’s made mistakes. The information she provides is very detailed, making it easy to follow her instructions for successful outcomes. For example, the slideshow she provided outlining the information from Senior Night was all we needed to get Angelo registered for his SAT, and on the right track for Bright Futures qualification along with local scholarship opportunities.
And from another parent, Ms Jones was very helpful with our recent situation. Kind, respectful, and helpful.
Re: Mr. Fernando Fernando comes in every day making sure Clark looks perfect like it was his own home, his dedication and professionalism go above any job description. What makes Fernando so extra special is his heart, kindness and warmth. He never fails to say hello with a bright welcoming smile that genuinely cares about everyone at Clark. Surely that hello might make a big difference in someone’s day. He is a wonderful role model for the students at Clark. He takes time to play ping pong on Tuesday & Thursdays..teaching kids how to play.
Much more important Fernando helps kids struggling to fit in find a place. I can not think of a more well deserving person. As a mother I am so grateful to have him in our children’s lives.
Though Mr. Judd had the crane last month, a parent did share the following about him for this month: My daughter loves his class and always comes home with so much information to tell me that she learned in his class. He is an amazing teacher. She takes his Holocaust History class and learns so much and has fun doing it. She enjoys the way his class is decorated and is always looking forward to it.
We were sad to say goodbye to Officer Williams as she enters retirement, but are excited to welcome Officer Dawn Matano who will begin with us on Monday. Make sure to introduce yourselves!

Every day is a celebration!
Make a Difference Mondays! As we kick off national Character Counts! Week with a special assembly today, a great way to make a difference in the lives of others is to live by the 6 pillars: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Fairness, and Citizenship. Being a good person and modeling that for others through making good choices goes a very long way to making a difference in our world!
Take Care Tuesdays! When we feel stressed, overwhelmed or burnt out, we can start to neglect the basics of looking after ourselves. Our nutrition, movement and sleep health all affect our brain and mental health, which is why it's so important to use self-care – especially if you are starting to struggle with your mental health. Take some time to love yourself and do something you know will have a positive impact on you!
Way to Go Wednesdays! We want to shout out Officer Williams who truly cares about all of our students. Tomorrow is her last day before retirement, so make sure to stop by and let her know how much she will be missed.
Thankful Thursdays! We want to express our gratitude for this lovely cool weather! Don’t worry, if you are not a fan, we have Clark hoodies you can buy in the front office and it will warm up again soon! Make a commitment to get outside and enjoy all nature has to offer!
Fun Fact Fridays! Our fun fact comes from Ms. Johnson. There is a bug named a Toebiter in the true bug family that lives underwater, but breathes air out of a snorkel like tube that projects from their butt. Aren’t bugs and animal species fun?
