Lincoln Park Middle School’s 6th Grade Team received the Friend of Trio Award from CSS Talent Search and The College of St. Scholastica for encouraging students to think about their educational plans after high school. This student centered, dedicated group of teachers understand early exposure to future possibilities and share the belief that higher education can be in their reach. Way to go, Team!
Denfeld Robotics Team Dinner and Silent Auction March 29
Help support the Denfeld Robotics Team!
Denfeld Nation Automation (DNA) 4009 FIRST Robotics Team is holding a dinner and silent auction to help support expenses. Please join the team Friday March 29, 5:00PM at Denfeld High School. $7 Adults, $4 Students. Spaghetti dinner and an opportunity to bid on a wide variety of items.

Laura MacArthur Robotics Receives Kiwanis Club Donation
The Kiwanis Club of Friendly Duluth presented the Laura MacArthur Elementary LEGO Robotics team with $500 to help support costs. Many thanks for this generous donation and community support!
Duluth East students competed in the American Society of Civil Engineers toothpick bridge competition at UMD this month. Three Duluth East students placed in the Top 10 out of 105 bridges in the strength competition. Bridges by Sydney Boerboom and Eric Zhou held over 45 kgs (100 lbs)! Ely Mitchell's bridge placed 3rd for most economical. Nice work!
Duluth East Robotics Team Dinner, Silent Auction April 2
Help support the Duluth East Daredevils Robotics Team! Dinner, silent auction and bake sale Tuesday April 2, 5PM at Duluth East High School. Kids are welcome to play at the LEGO table, and check out and drive the FRC robots. Please join the team for a fun evening!Tickets for families are $25
Individual tickets are $10
One of Denfeld High School’s Knowledge Bowl teams qualified for State! Congratulations Nikolai Breimon, Quinten Rimolde, Rachel Skwira-Brown, Mya Halvorson and advisor Maria Macioce. Knowledge Bowls are interdisciplinary academic contests designed for students in grades 7-12. Teams of students compete in written and oral rounds, answering questions related to all areas of learning. Questions test students’ recall, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
Colin Willemsen, Ordean East Middle School, earned a spot at the National Geographic Geography Bee State Competition at the University of Minnesota. Best of luck, Colin!
Colin has participated in this event since 4th grade, his record is impressive: 4th grade - First place, 5th grade - Second place, 6th grade - First place, 7th grade - First place, 8th grade - First place.
Contestants at the national level compete not only for the first place title, but for cash awards and college scholarships.

Lincoln Park, Ordean East Students Join Lake Superior Youth Chorus
Students from Lincoln Park and Ordean East Middle Schools took part in the Lake Superior Youth Chorus Honor Choir this month. The event included students from Congdon and Lakewood Elementary and other area schools. A wonderful day of singing and learning for all!
Students in Lowell Elementary's Misaabekong Ojibwe Language Immersion program are tapping trees and making trails for their iskigamizigan (sugar bush, sugar camp).

The Lester Park Elementary "Fireballs" Robotics Team made it to the State Championships in St. Paul. They received a 1st Place Award for Innovation and Design and took 4th Place in the head to head tournament. Congratulations to this talented group and many thanks to all who support the team!
Autumn Zierman, Denfeld High School, was selected as Student of the Year for the Northern Lights National Speech & Debate Association, congratulations!
The Award is presented to a graduating senior who best represents the tenets of the Association’s Code of Honor: integrity, respect, humility, leadership, and service. Nominees must also demonstrate strong academic credentials and a commitment to the speech and debate community.
Congdon Park received the 2019 Golden Snow Boot Award from Minnesota Safe Routes to School. Students participated in Winter Walk to School Day and submitted stories and photos of their event which earned them the award. Over 10 percent of the Congdon Park student body participated, about 67 students. Congratulations!
