Lack of Water in Africa
The Problem
Did you know that every 20 seconds a child dies from a water-related disease? Would that amount of children ever even crossed your mind? There are many other disturbing facts about water-related diseases. An example is that more people have mobile phones than toilets. Or, that less than 1 in 3 people that live in Sub-Saharan Africa have access to a toilet. That is extremely sad! The lack of clean water in Africa is a major problem. Besides the unclean water, there is also no access to sanitation, and 40% of the world's population live without access to clean water. The results from this horrible crisis may leave you in tears. Here's the worst part....this crisis is solvable. With the help of many willing people, we can FIX this terrible disaster.
Dirty Water
Here, a child is struggling to drink horribly dirty water. This kind of water kills people more than war does every single year.

Diseases in Water
This picture shows some of the diseases that are usually in most of the water. Most dirty water is probable to have at least 2 of these diseases in them.
Jerry Cans
Lots of women and children have to travel many miles to get unsafe water. Some women have to carry up to 50 pounds of water, and sometimes a 20-pound child. Also, 40 billion hours are spent every year fetching water!!

There are a lot of ways to get involved with WaterAid. One big way is by donating. You could donate a certain amount every month, or just do a big donation at one time. Besides donating, you can start a fundraiser for WaterAid to get more people to donate. This is a great way! You could also get more people involved with WaterAid by simply just making people more aware of the problem, and telling them about WaterAid.
