History of her Life

Oprah's full name is Oprah Gail Winfrey. She was born January 29, in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Oprah was raised by a singled teenaged mother and grew up in a troubled neighborhood. Shortly after her birth, her mother left her and traveled north. Oprah was then raised by her grandmother. While being raised by her grandmother, Oprah lived in terrible conditions. Oprah didn't have any friends in fact her only friends were farm animals. However, Oprah had a very big imagination. Because of her grandmother, she new how to read and write before the age of 3, and because of her she had a very religous mind and she had GOD instilled in her. Oprah attended Tennessee State University and there she majored in Speech Communication and Performing Arts. Oprah had many job offers when she was in college. She had a job to co- anchor on the CBS television station. She declined several times until her speech professer said that it may be an ultimate launch in her carrer.

How is Oprah Famous

Oprah is famous for wining an academy award for staring in the famous movie "The Color Purple". She was so sucessful in the movie that she made her own production company and bough her own show. Because of this Oprah net worth is 3 billion USD. Oprah's company is making more shows of celebrities.

Philanthropy( what has she done)

When the hurricane Katrina happend, Oprah started a home in New Orleans to get them back on track. Oprah also started a school in Africa only for girls. From 2002 to 2004 Oprah donated $1.25 million dollars to kids in Afghanistan to open seven new schools to educate 15,000 children.
