BOX TOPS FALL 2019 CAMPAIGN OCT.7-OCT. 25

NEW THIS YEAR:

 Physical Box Tops are being phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products throughout the stores. Please send in your clipped Box Tops, along with any unexpired clips you may have at home. Since physical Box Tops are being phased out, download the ALL-NEW Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will automatically credit your school's Box Tops Earnings online. You may also designate an individual (Centerville star) to credit each scan to. This Fall, we will not have prizes for the top earner, as we are transitioning to this new platform. Every student that participates will get a special prize to be announced at the start of the campaign. Each class that has 50% or more participation will earn a popsicle party!

Download the Box Top for Education App and start scanning your receipts in for Box Tops! Download the all new app here: https://www.boxtops4education.com/

If you have any questions or would be willing to help count the Box Tops during the campaigns, please email boxtops@ptaces.org. Thank you for clipping (and scanning!) for our CES Stars!

THE NEXT GENERATION OF BOX TOPS IS HERE.
Box Tops is changing to fit today's families. The new and improved Box Tops mobile app uses state-of-the-art technology to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to your school's earnings online. App is available on Apple and Google platforms.
● MORE CONVENIENT - Redeem anywhere, anytime within 14 days of purchase

● EASY TO USE - No more clipping or sending Box Tops to school
● REAL TIME - Your school’s earnings are automatically updated online
● EXTRA CASH - Access special bonus offers on top of your Box Tops earnings.

Traditional Box Tops clips are being phased out of production but may continue to be found on many products throughout the store. You can still clip and send them to school.
Every valid Box Tops clip is worth 10¢ for your school. Make sure each one has a clearly visible product acronym and valid expiration date.
Eventually the Box Tops program will become digital-only. Participating brands are starting to change their packaging from a traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Top label. If you see this label, use the new Box Tops app to scan your receipt. Box Tops are still worth 10¢ each for your school. The app will find participating products purchased at any store and instantly add cash to your school's earnings online.

Composting at CES!

Our composting involvement began last Monday, Sept 16, and we’re now diverting about 85-100 pounds of solid organic material from the landfill to a compost facility each day. This is important, because in a landfill, rotting food produces methane, an extremely potent greenhouse gas, as a byproduct. If the same food is composted instead, it produces carbon dioxide, which is still a greenhouse gas, but one that is significantly less effective at trapping heat. In addition to environmental benefits, there are likely economic ones as well, and we are collecting data in hopes of making a business case for countywide school composting. We are still working with the garden club and interested fourth graders (who have recess directly after their final lunch) to select helpers to perform the daily data collection, more info on that will be forthcoming. We plan to extend the parent lunchroom volunteer shifts another week, and if anyone is interested, please see the signup genius. Parents can also help by packing portions their children will actually consume, in reusable containers. We are considering the idea of Zero Waste Wednesdays to encourage more mindful consumption and reduce the amounts of waste in ALL the bins. If you are interested in getting involved in the effort, please contact Katie Esposito, kcesposito@gmail.com.
