The Livonia PTSA Council would like to invite you to participate in a forum of candidates running for election to Livonia Public Schools’ Board of Trustees on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. The forum will be held at the Livonia Public Schools Administration Building in the Board Room at 15125 Farmington Rd., Livonia, Michigan.

Questions may be submitted in written form from the audience. No verbal questions will be allowed. All questions will be directed to each candidate.

We're off to a great start!

Livonia PTA Units have reported 3,496 members so far.

We hosted our first workshop for the year. Thanks to Rosedale Elementary for hosting us! We learned some great fitness and nutrition information and tips from our fantastic presenters.

Our next workshop will be at Cooper Upper Elementary to discuss fundraising. We will discuss rules, guidelines, and best practices as well as roundtable discussions on types of fundraisers that have worked well for our Units. We hope to see you there.

We are continuing to work to meet our Units needs. Please let us know how we can best meet your needs and support your unit.


YMAD Update - and CONTEST! The Livonia PTSA Council is sponsoring a contest for all PTA units in Livonia. Set a date and get together a group to spruce up the school grounds. Send a picture of your group with a before and after to Council, attention Debbie Pline. The Unit with the largest group of volunteers will be awarded a $100 Gift card to use for landscaping materials. UPDATE - Due to ongoing district wide renovations, our YMAD celebration in April will be held at STEVENSON HIGH SCHOOL this year, since renovations will be underway at Franklin. Franklin High School PTSA Voter Registration day!

"Are you 18?"

That is the question being repeated by volunteers at Franklin HS PTSA in Livonia, the first and only school to participate in our Register2 initiative! Ny Derry, Julie Thompson from Livonia PTSA Council, Livonia City Clerk Terry Marecki and other dedicated volunteers are registering eligible students as PTSA members and voters today for another hour.

Terry informed me that Livonia has 95K residents, 75K of which are registered voters. Now, more are being added today!

Remember, this is the final weekend to register to vote--October 6th is the last day.

And, please, take notes from Frankin HS PTSA and take someone who needs to register to fulfill their obligation. Way to go, Ny and team!
