Georgia Parent Survey

Each school year, schools across Georgia receive a "score/rating" from the Georgia Department of Education. The state accountability report is named, College & Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI).

New to the accountability report for the 2013-2014 school year is the School Climate Star Rating. Would you please take a few minutes to complete the parent survey? I would appreciate it so much.

Deadline is March 14.

We are delighted to have received our 2012-2013 CCRPI score of 97.3. The average for Georgia's elementary schools was 83.4. Arcado is AWESOME!!!

Teaching and Learning Focus- 30 minute extended learning time

I am sure you have asked the question: what are the teachers doing with the students for an extra 30 minutes everyday? That is a good question.

Here at Arcado each grade level team collaborated to make decisions based on the needs of that particular group of students.

Each grade level has been assigned support program teachers and special area teachers to assist in the instruction.

In Kindergarten: the focus is on literacy (reading and writing). Teachers are using interactive read alouds with mini lessons & guided practice.

First grade: the focus is on both math and reading instruction (rotation of days) remediation and enrichment. Whole group & small group instruction is used.

Second grade: the focus is on small group reading instruction. Teachers are utilizing student data to determine needs.

Third grade: the focus is on digging deeper into the social studies & science curriculum.

Fourth grade: the focus is on test taking strategies and test preparation.

Fifth grade: the focus is on Nonfiction texts, test taking strategies, and test preparation.

Our teachers find value in the additional learning time. Parents, thank you for your understanding and support!
