The Middle Class
By Jamiah Harris
What is the Middle Class
Before the Industrial Revolution you were either in the working classes or the upper class with nothing in between but when urban industries begin to require shoe keepers, bankers, clerks, insurance agents, merchants, accountants, managers, doctors etc. Known today as white collar" jobs.
What effect did it have?
Families became more sanctuary from stressful industrial life. Home and work became two different things and home created a moral and spiritual place away from the hustle and buss of daily life. Families could afford to send their children to school, children became more of an economic burden and better health care decreased in infant mortality, middle class women gave birth to fewer children.
