Technology Corner
Reminders:
- Please do not place unsafe items on the top of your computer cart. Things have the possibility of tipping or falling on a student while they are in and around the cart.
- All DOT (Department of Technology) equipment should be plugged into a surge protection extension cord before being plugged into the wall. This is designed to prevent damage during an electrical surge. Should your classroom require any surge protector cords – please email Carolyne McCoy.
- If your Chromebook are not stored in a computer cart; please never stack them more than 4 high. The weight of the Chromebooks causes screen damage which requires replacement.
- DOT requests that nothing be attached/taped to your sonic boards. We love your creativity!! You may decorate around them just nothing attached to them please :)
- When cleaning your sonic boards please make sure to only use the approved DOT spray listed in your email and your microfiber cloth. Spray onto the cloth – then wipe your board. DOT has requested that custodians not clean the new sonic boards.

Goal Setting
It's time to begin thinking about the steps to take to prepare students to lead their student-led conferences with parents. Along with doing the important work of getting students excited and motivated to learn, helping students set hopes, dreams, and goals:
- holds students accountable for their behaviors
- encourages students to take ownership of the steps they need to achieve their goals
- supports students as they see the progress of their efforts
- motivates students to keep going in moments where they hit a roadblock or a challenge
- teaches students how to build off their weaknesses in order to become successful
- reminds students of how their goals are connected to both the classroom and school rules

Constitution Day Resources
Public law requires that Sept. 17 be designated as Constitution Day and Citizenship Day. Constitution Day commemorates the day on which the Constitution was signed in Philadelphia in 1787. Traditionally, each year since 1952, the President proclaims the seven days beginning on Constitution Day as Constitution Week. Constitution Week will be from Monday, Sept. 16 through Sunday, Sept. 22. During this time, all citizens are encouraged to celebrate our Constitution and reaffirm the rights and obligations of citizens.
All educational institutions receiving federal funding are required to hold an educational program pertaining to the United States Constitution on Sept. 17. Schools may determine what kind of educational programs are appropriate for their students. Some informational resources pertaining to the Constitution that may be useful in planning educational activities are listed on the USED’s website. The team at iCivics has a curriculum unit with lessons. Visit the website here. Information about citizenship and civics is also available at other nonpartisan websites including the Bill of Rights Institute.
