Gaming Gone Wild
One other concern we have is the very tired students who are coming in, and in some cases, this fatigue is from late night gaming (students have admitted as much). If you are looking for some strategies to control gaming in your child's life, I have found an article from a leading technology blog network, Engadget, which lays out some strategies for parents. In the article there are additional links to help parents navigate this sensitive topic with their children.

Author Visit
Kate Messner, Author Visit Grades 5-7 JUNE 6th
Three years ago, TES welcomed author, Kate Messner to their school. She mesmerized them as she talked about her books, where she gets her ideas from, and how she does her research for her books. They talked about Kate's presentations long after her visit! Next month, Kate's publisher is sending her on a book tour to promote her newest book, "Breakout." Because of her positive experience at TES, she recently reached out to them to see if Tyngsboro would like to be one of the stops on her tour. We quickly agreed. Kate will be visiting grades 5-7, the same kids that listened to her talk when they were 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.
Reminder from the Health Office
Under the guidelines of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Massachusetts Department of Education, it is the policy of the Tyngsborough Public School District that all students are required to submit a current Physical Examination report to have on file in the nurse's office prior to entry into the 7th grade. Examinations must be dated within the previous twelve months to be considered current and must include a certificate of proof of immunization. Per state requirements, proof of the following immunizations must be on file for your child (prior to entry in the 7th grade): 3 doses of Hepatitis B, 4 doses of Polio, 2 doses of MMR, 2 doses of varicella and 1 dose of Tdap (105 CMR 220 000).
If you are unsure if you have submitted a copy of a recent physical exam with proof of the required vaccinations, please contact our nurse, Michelle Riley RN at 978-649-3115 option 4.
