Info for the Staff
Table Top Exercise Details
Tuesday, December 11, 2018 7:20-7:55 AM
We will split our staff into two groups. Each group will travel between two spaces: a traditional setting (classroom) and an atypical setting (gym). One officer will start in a classroom and move to the gym. A second officer will start in the gym and move to the classroom. Each location will have about 15 minutes for instruction/discussion before we transition.
It our desire for the officers to give an idea on how to handle an incident in either location. First and foremost, we thought the officers could share a basic overview of ALICE. Second, the officers can share ideas and demonstrate how to lockdown, counter, and/or evacuate in each location.
Staff members with the last names beginning with the letters A-K should report to the New Gym. Staff members with the last names beginning with the letters L-Z should report to room 13 (Bridget Katchman's room).
December Professional Development
At the September 28th PD Day, we took a closer look at some myths about poverty and examined equity literacy abilities for the purpose of awareness and identifying areas that we were already doing and areas in which we could improve. In December, we want to solidify our commitment to the work and consider how we are addressing some of these principles as we continue to work across the district on our CRP goals. We will be asking you to meet with your team the week of December 17th to complete an activity and reflect on the principles on which you will be working. This will be an activity where you choose the date/time which works best for your team. Special Area, Intervention, and ESL teachers - Marilee will send info on your meeting time at a later date.
Greene School Goal: During the 2018-19 school year, we will bring awareness and gain knowledge in Culturally Responsive Practices.
Dropping Students off for Lunch
Core teachers need to be mindful not to leave students unattended on the playground, in the gyms, or in the cafe. Recess monitor duty starts at 10:54 for 5th grade and 11:37 for 6th grade. If you are dropping students off and there is not a monitor, you need to stay with them and wait.
Special Staff Meeting - Monday, December 10th - 7:20 am - 8:00 am -Cafeteria. Dan Connors from the Children's Home will be coming to talk to all staff about the history of people with disabilities and the goal for working with people with disabilities, how people with disabilities are perceived in culture, and tools for teachers to use based around "Gentle Teaching." There may be follow up sessions.
December Licensure Meeting - Tuesday, December 11th
Please place any final portfolios or new IPDPs in Andrea Dorko's mailbox by Monday, December 10th. Thank you.
Donations for OGB Holiday Store - The Greene School is again donating to the OGB Holiday Store and we would like staff to donate an unwrapped toy this year. Please drop off your donation to the Front Office by Monday, December 11th. Thank you!
