Excellence in a Creative Environment for Learning
DBE Highlighted in SCORE's 2019 Annual Report
"RETHINKING THE HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
D-B Excel offers an alternative for Kingsport City Schools students who seek a nontraditional setting by offering a flexible schedule and an intense focus on blended, personalized learning. Students can learn at their own pace to accommodate work or extracurricular schedules. D-B Excel engages students in rigorous, standards-aligned instruction with a focus on project-based learning, allowing students to demonstrate content mastery through products, performances, or presentations." In October, SCORE conducted a High School Learning Tour and that's where they we able to learn more D-B EXCEL.
During the High School Learning Tour, SCORE and their partners at TNTP visited nine Tennessee high schools to learn about the work educators, schools, and communities are doing to prepare all students for success in college and career. At each of their day-long visits, their team spent time interviewing students, teachers, and administrators as well as time observing classroom instruction.
SCORE has not released the research findings from their tour yet but they intend on publicly sharing a memo outlining Tennessee’s opportunities for improving the high school experience. In the report they will share student outcomes information on a state level, describe Tennessee’s opportunities to reimagine high school, and identify promising practices from their visits and from other examples around the country.
We look forward to sharing the SCORE High School Learning Tour report with our DBE families as soon as it's released!

To observe a student, you must have a student pairing code. Students can access the pairing code through their settings
- Click the Start Participating button.
Some notes on the pairing code:
For now, each pairing code will live for 24 hours. That means once the pairing code is generated, it will remain valid for 24 hours, then it expires.
Each pairing code can only be used once. Once it’s used in account registration, the pairing code expires and the observer remains successfully paired. If you want to pair two observers to one student, each observer needs a unique pairing code.
