Keller HS English II Pre-AP
Erin Mathews, M.Ed.
Welcome Class of 2018!
HELLO ENGLISH II Pre-AP PARENTS!
Welcome back to another school year at KHS! I will be sending out occasional updates and information to you throughout the year to help us to be on the same page to support your student. I do update, on an almost daily basis, my class google site calendar.
The first days of school have been a whirlwind of activity. As a class, we have already started work towards a great foundation for this year. Your students have been wonderful with an emerging strong academic focus, adapting to the new schedule, and flexibility with the current construction.
In English II Pre-AP, you will see a difference in the pace and depth of the material covered. The first six weeks can be a challenging time for your student as they adapt to the rigor and responsibility of a sophomore Pre-AP class. I encourage you to support your student-as will I-during this year of growth. I am excited for this group of students and the year ahead!
Erin Mathews, M.Ed.
Where can I find information?
Check the class google site for class updates, how to videos, class core documents, class calendar (for absent/make up work/planning ahead), and more. Please encourage your student to check this site frequently, too.
This page also includes a 'Help for Class Technology' tab. This tab includes login instructions/assistance to the sites we will be using this year and videos to help with other steps in the process. We spent a day in the library setting up all of our class technology- step-by-step-to help streamline the process for you and your student.
Interested in seeing the world? Attend an informational meeting about this year's trip
Information will be available at mini-school regarding a July trip to the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France, and England. We will spend 16 days traveling to some of the greatest cities and sites in Europe. Along the way we will be able to see where many of our world studies - literary and historical - began.

September 23rd Keller Public Library 7pm
This is NOT a required or school sponsored trip.

How Can You Help?
A huge thank you to those of you who have asked about how you can help our classroom this year! I am including three possibilities to answer that question. Thank you again and thank you in advance!
1. Complete the form at mini-school about your (or other family members) career. I would like to bring in parents and other stakeholders to discuss the reading and writing in their careers/real world (any field). We want your expertise and experience!
2. Chaperon! One day, one play! Pending approval, we will be watching a Shakespeare play related to the elements we study this year-live on the stage. We need your help with escorting sophomores.
3. Donor's Choose - watch for a separate email for another way to help our classroom
